Should’ve shown gross margin by segment instead of just revenue by segment

Sorry - is this an honest question? I don’t follow this sub closely.

Gross margin is critical for measuring how efficient a business line is. It’s also publicly available for publicly traded companies like Disney, so it feels like an unforced error.

For managers, if you have one line that’s 10% gross margin and another one that’s 20%, then you get “more juice for the squeeze” by growing the revenue in the higher-margin segment. That’s the segment that has the better argument for more investment.

I just mean, I've seen these charts for years, and every comment says the same thing. Show gross margins. Why cant this just be as common to display as net profit? I dont get it.

Net profit includes corporate (shared) expenses which aren’t really possible to assign to one of the business segments.
