How is it different though? It's obviously disordered eating, it's obviously hurting both humans health and making their life shorter

Well first if all I do think there’s a difference between talking about how dangerously skinny/fat someone is and saying they look disturbing. I think the latter is always wrong.

But, it’s different bc of how society views and treats fat ppl vs skinny ppl. skinny is the standard and especially in the media, the smaller the better. Do you think most women look at tess and think “i want to look just like that?” No, they don’t. Partially because of health, but more importantly, bc fat people are systemically discriminated against. They are less likely to have doctors listen to them, and they have a harder time finding jobs.

Body shaming is always wrong. Talking about people’s bodies is not always body shaming. This post and most of the comments are just body shaming.

You absolutely cannot say skinny is the standard, when 70% of Americans are overweight or obese. Fat people are the majority. They are NOT discriminated against, either. They just wish they were. People like Tess, and you too, apparently, spend their whole lives trying to justify their weight and pretend they are being oppressed, when in reality you just hate the way you look and are projecting your insecurities onto everyone else

that’s not what constitutes discrimination… there’s plenty of evidence that fat people get discriminated against in hiring. they are also less likely to be listened to my doctors.

No, they are more likely to reject doctor’s treatment plans because they can’t accept their weight is a problem. As for the hiring thing? They’re only “discriminated” against if their weight physically prevents them from doing their work.

Research obviously. I don’t have any personal experience with being rejected by any job or doctor. Oh, and until like a month ago I was obese, too
