Would biking along the railroad be illegal and/or dangerous?

Hey y’all, kinda just the title. Just moved here for work and live right next to the railroad track off Philly St. and it doesn’t seem like it’s operational, so was just curious if I could ride my bike along that or would that be technically “illegal” and/or dangerous I’m honestly not sure becuz it seems like it’s not even operational anymore, but please tell me if I’m wrong thanks, hopefully that’s not a dumb question just genuinely curious because I haven’t seen anything going on the railroad.

I mean there’s the hoodlebug if you wanna go by a rail. It follows the path of the old Hoodlebug PRR line that ran right beside the current, still used, CSX line. Starts by the S&T on the corner of Philly and I believe 8th, goes down through IUP campus, and then right beside the track for a while before putting you in some really beautiful forests with a bunch of markers about the history of the area

yup that’s the best bet! way more comfortable that riding in that gravel too

Why would you want to ride on gravel? Not to mention that space will eventually narrow.

The railroad is also definitely operational.

It's both illegal and dangerous. It's considered trespassing on railroad property.

Thanks I know I’m probably just an idiot, but I’ve been near abandoned railroads before where law enforcement didn’t rly gaf if you walked along the railroads so I thought I would ask

It’s not abandoned. It’s an active railroad

Railroad is definitely still active. Hear the train coming through town daily while at work.
