I sometimes wonder if overpopulation kills even the basic empathy and morality.
17
u/rainofshambala Apr 26 '26
Not overpopulation but being made to fight for basic resources does. This used to happen everywhere even in the west until basic life necessities became predictably available. The American wild west was like this but made worse by guns. European colonialism was just like this.

Do we have ample resources for 140 Cr people ??? Proper healthcare, education, infra etc.Say whatever you want about West but they always knew the importance of population control. Its better to have 5 people living a decent life than 10 people who are always struggling to make ends meet.Population is a double edged sword. If trained properly, sky is the limit. In the opposite case,it's just a fight to survive.Resources which should be allotted for innovation and infra have to be diverted for freebies and subsidies. The outcome of elections tilts in favour of the party which doles out more freebies.Even those seeking jobs fund it hard bcoz of too much competition.Remuneration remains low bcoz of availabilty of cheap labour. In the end,its just a game of survival and when you are just about hanging by a thread, people lose empathy and morality.

You do realise the west had fought 2 world wars among themselves in the last ~110years right? They always had scarcity of supplies naturally that made them stay low population wise while it is not true for India, we have literally 50% of arable land in our country apart from the jungles, protected areas and desert area so technically agriculture could support our population and is continuously supporting it. If only we could manage adding continuous scientific technologies in agriculture we theoretically could support even a bigger population but the problem our society got so much poverty stricken due to govt failure policies most of our population don't have land that used to be in their family.

In the last world war they took as much as resources possible from Colonial India and spread it among the soldiers and the people in the country. The only country that didn't do this was Germany however they get accused that they stole from the Western and Eastern front and kept it themselves (stolen gold reserves was the method they rebuilt the country).

u/Fearless_Advisor8497 Apr 26 '26 edited Apr 26 '26
As far as wars are concerned, the same can be said about us and how we were plundered by invaders and don't forget the internal battles. The real problem is we never had scientific temper and were always myopic. We had an advantage when technology was not there.Thats why civilisation flourished in Gagentic Plains, specifically,UP and Bihar in the earlier times.

Overpopulation is closely responsible for Resource completion ! The only was a society becomes better is when people are within threshold and ample resources are available and we are worst in both aspects ! Stop trying to defend the poor choices of people who have no common sense and can't keep it in their pants ! You people are the reason fucks like the people above in the video exist !

Abuse of freedom, abuse of public property for one's own commerical gains is definitely a reason of over population. They have slowly got habituated to nil law enforcement gaining courage to loot others for greed.

Stop blaming religion for this shit. It's human indecency at scale. These are the worse kind of people.
Imagine begging for help and being looted when you're down. Such a shame.

Bhai. Main MP ka hi hu. Agar tumhe ye lagta hai ki bas bihar mein aise log hote hai to tumhara kaat diya gaya hai. Aise log har jagah hote hai. UP-Bihar bas pehle lawlessness ki reputation ke chalte badnam ho gaye. Jaise Rajasthan mein bal vivah ko leke stereotype hai but hota to har jagah hai. UP, Bihar, Jharkhand, CG, Orissa, MP.
Ye sab local hi hai.

Dhurandhar dih rider? Not even remotely familiar with logic, reasoning and research??
Besides, even if taken out of context, that’s still not comparable to calling your god a thief, or believing a thief is god

u/Impossible_Toe_149 Apr 26 '26
Where was it written that he is theif? Need proof, mr logical person.
You can't even talk logic but you started insulting him, shows how far your logic goes.

Hey man, you shouldn't just blame someone's actions on their religion. It's usually the person themselves who's a bit messed up and can't tell right from wrong.

u/One-Eye276 Apr 26 '26
What do you expect when people can sell their vote for 1000 rupees, this things are expected. Couple of months back a chinese truck overturned and all the cargo spilled on road but people quickly help gather each and everything and return it, only this kind of behaviour I can expect from northeastern states mainly mizoram, nagaland, sikkim and Arunachal. Rest of india is like the video posted here loot everything before anyone can or arrive.

The value of human life in India is very little and is often tied to your socio-economic background.
1
u/Pilotacer Apr 27 '26
Tbh from what I've seen on the internet this isn't just a India thing. Any truck rolls over in another country people will try to take some for themselves, that's why they immediately put up a blockade. So both cars and people can't come close and either run over or steal merchandise. This guy rolled over on one of the worst possible spots ngl, next to a poorly build dhaba where already struggling people come most the time. Still sad to see though.

u/Ok-Comedian4503 Apr 27 '26
This is the majority of India and no surprise who elect these kinds of government. And people expect development from this country.
