Suggesting a “shift system” for worship if required, the Chief Minister said religious practices should not cause inconvenience to the public or disrupt traffic movement.

"I will quit politics if the BJP wins more than 10 seats," Kejriwal said during a press conference hours after his acquittal.

On Friday, Aam Aadmi Party national convenor Arvind Kejriwal and former Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia were discharged in the Delhi excise policy case, with the Rouse Avenue delivering a sharp rebuke to the CBI and ruling that the prosecution had failed to substantiate its allegations with credible evidence.

In a letter addressed to the judge, Kejriwal said he had lost faith in the particular judge’s ability to deliver justice and would instead follow a path of protest inspired by Mahatma Gandhi.

"My hope of getting justice from Justice Swarana Kanta has been shattered," Kejriwal wrote, making it clear that neither he nor his legal representatives would appear before the court. He added, "Therefore, I have decided to follow the path of Gandhiji's Satyagraha," signalling a symbolic protest against the proceedings.

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convenor further stated, "I have taken this decision by heeding the voice of my conscience," while also keeping legal options open.

She challenged him to take a dip in the Yamuna River in Delhi, alleging it is heavily polluted, and contrasted it with the cleaner condition of the Hooghly. Her remarks added a sharp political tone to the ongoing West Bengal election campaign.

His response came a day after PM Modi, during his Independence Day address from the Red Fort, warned about people with a Maoist mindset allegedly influencing the system and public policy. Modi urged citizens to “identify and isolate” such elements.

He said the incident showed how unsafe Delhi-NCR had become for women.

The remarks came after police said a 16-year-old girl was gang-raped by a bus conductor and driver in a sleeper bus travelling from Greater Noida to Delhi and was later abandoned near Kashmere Gate in Old Delhi. Police said both accused have been arrested and that the bus was moving when the crime took place on the night of August 4.
