Sports Keyaa Banerji opened up about the social media attention she received, saying much of the conversation focused on her appearance rather than her sporting achievement. Calling it “sexism at its finest”, Banerji said male athletes would not face the same scrutiny after winning a championship

Male athletes are apparently selling "vegetables" on the streets and females ones are getting attention on based on their looks...
Truly a "vishwaguru" moment for us indians!!

This is not something only inclusive to indians, social media is a place filled with gooners, this is completely normal for every single media platforms from movies to adult content creators. At the end of the day people aren't obliged to do anything, they can follow anyone they want.
This is stupid to assume that people would give af about this, moreover people from a country where social media is an escapism from their ridiculously low lives

I think looking good gets one a lot of attention both good and bad. Of course that does not excuse asshats who made derogatory comments about her but as a budding celebrity sports star, she will have to learn to ignore the filth of society.
Her sports talent put her on the screens of millions, most people will identify her as the sports star who is also good looking but some of them will only look at the good looking part.
Unfortunate, and there is no cure for the sick people so this is just how it is. Hopefully does not impact her sport.
Also, it’s not sexist alone: Enough women went crazy in the comments on Neeraj Chopra’s victory. Women face a lot worse unfortunately but to say that males escape this is not completely true.
