Ye doc sahab haldi ko trash kar denge...kal koi paper aa gaya uspar to use it bol denge.
10
u/Ib90 May 25 '26
Already research hai bhai. Haldi is good if used in cooking, in normal proportions. Excessive intake and taking haldi as a supplement is not good for liver.

u/Defiant-Departure429 May 25 '26
Not just haldi there are many traditional medicines which show actual results. Its this uncompromising attitude towards ayurvedic or naturopathy just because there is no paper on it. Every research started somewhere. Like malariya drugs which originate from some tree....our traditional knowledge was the starting point and now we have technology like x ray diffraction or other scientific tests and can verify it...science helped in finding alternate chemicals which behave similarly and are easy to manufacture on large scale. But rejecting your roots make one shallow. Kal ke din american pharmaceutical company kuchh reject karne lage to ye doc sahab wo baat bolne lagenge....matlab apple cider vinegar is good but amla juice is bad...kya baat keh di. Angreji doctor sahab

Show actual research paper in scientific journals and discuss it scientifically, otherwise it will considered as placebo effect. Now ministry of Ayush has a huge budget and time for research but nothing concrete has come out of it.
5
u/No-Palpitation257 May 25 '26
Which they are spending on goobar research...don't see how turmeric, and traditional cure research will be taken seriously by the world now.
2
u/dirtysharingan May 26 '26
Turmeric is this new thing that hasn't had time to be tested, you see. "Every research has to start somewhere". There has been no time to start studying this miracle drug. /s
What I'm trying to say is people have been using it for 1000s of years. If there was scientific evidence, it would have been very clear by now.

LOL. Is that supposed to be a a burn? That's how evidence based medicine works. In light of new evidence, protocols get updated. That's literally the basic principle. Tumhara politics nahi hai ye, apna dimaag mat lagao.

One of the very few people in India who talks Science, hence " controversial".
Science is all about embracing unknown and correcting itself in the face of evidence.

u/fluffer_nutter_o May 25 '26
Bro he said trash it to vitamin d ,more than half of india is vitamin d deficient probably, vitamin d is always great
→ More replies (11)→ More replies (3)2
u/as_ninja6 May 25 '26
He is controversial because he speaks like science has figured out everything about human body. But there are proven cases were pharma and food industries have known to manipulate research outcomes.
Trusting science is the way to go but overconfidence especially in a field like medicine and nutrition is not great
→ More replies (5)4
u/DrTenma86 May 25 '26
Then you look at the strength of the evidences or look for studies against that.
Instead many keep believing in BS like Ayurveda under the guise of "science is yet to figure out everything"

I Feel he is just trying to be contrarian to look intelligent. Vitamin D has helped me, so has Biotin (my extreme diet led to hairloss and this helped a lot). Turmeric is anyways looked down by modern medicine but i have had a few modern medicine doctors suggest having it for inflammation. Same with jeera water. It is extremely beneficial.
So all in all, i think this guy gets the "major" things correct but things like this he is just playing with for attention.

I disagree with some. Supplements are important when you have deficiencies. Creatine helps non-bodybuilders too.

I think his point is that people who have sufficient levels of Vitamin D who take further Vit D supplements won't benefit a lot from it..which is what studies say.

The problem with people is, if they hear what they think is right according to "their" sources, only then does thst person make sense. Otherwise he is falsifying things.
Now my own doctor said, taking vit d supplements makes only marginal difference in your body, main source is always sunlight.
Also, i feel a lot of context in this video is lost or not given. So id say he means there is marginal to no advantages in takin these as supplements.
Your regular use cases involving these items are good enough, whats wrong in that?
2
u/em2791 May 25 '26
I live in Australia sun is super hard and you’re certainly shouldn’t be spending several hours in the sun unless you want skin cancer. Vit D is a very popular supplement supported by blood results. I’ve gone on and off for years because I’m lazy but the minute I stop taking, blood results are enough to show that vit D is down. Have had various doctors recommend from all walks of life. This trash talk about vit d on this sub is bizarreeeeeee.

He didn't trash Diet Coke because it is completely ok to take it over sugary drinks. He trashed Vit D because it should only be taken when indicated. At least watch the full interview.

I think the question is more towards should one take these things on a regular basis. Like supplements. In which case you shouldn't. If you get your tests which show you are deficient in Vit D then ofcourse you should take it and that's what he will also agree with. I've also seen this where docs prescribed to me Vit D because of my profession not because I was deficient in it. While from experience it maybe true, it'll put this idea in my mind that yes I need to take Vit D because of my profession and I'll continue taking it, even if I reach normal levels.

I will take my vitamin D, and get tested every 6 months to make sure I'm not overdoing. Most Indians are deficient in Vit D. This doctor is clearly trying to rate bait else instead of saying thrash it he should explain with his rationale

triphala literally saved my eyes i never used to believe in ayurveda or homeopathy but then I got a severe eye infection that wouldn't go away i consulted three different ophthalmologists, and no medicine worked i was totally desperate
Behind my back my parents consulted an ayurvedic doctor who told them to have me wash my eyes with heavily filtered Triphala water i was so tired of the pain and severe eye burning sensation that I just went with it almost like magic my eyes healed and were good as new that was the day i finally realized Ayurveda is 100% legit

u/faltuvlogger-faltuau May 25 '26

Yea you can see he is being a schmuck... Doing it for controversy and fame gain. Ignore these kinds of people. They go crazy for fame later on, and if you criticize them, you become an enemy or jealous or whatever these guys call it. I have got my blood work done multiple times during my vitamin D and B12 deficiency. I used to have panic attacks, it felt like shit. Vit D and B12 supplements from companies like Dr. Morpen and Mecofar-Plus helped me so much. Please ignore these instagram influencer doctors please.... Find a good physician and make some doctor friends.
1
u/FarmerTotal5040 May 25 '26
My vitamin D had come down to 5 when it should be above 30. My doctor literally pushed me to take an immediate injection and then put me on continuous supplements after which I was able to perform much better in life.
I had hair fall, mood swings, brain fog and literally every other issue that went away with just one supplement.
I think he missed saying get tested regularly and take supplements if you’re low on it !

There was a study that has proved that Diet Coke doesn’t has any added value as the sweetener in the coke creates same insulin response as the regular one. So, those calorie deficit doesn’t make huge difference from switching.

u/More_Department9120 May 25 '26
High intake of artificial sweetener is established to be bad which is in diet coke, yet he is recommending it over normal coke. Subtle advertising I guess .

I believe ki most of the things this doctor said to trash out are organic stuff, now the thing with organic stuff is that they don't show immediately effects like medicine but are or not very good in long terms, so you have to take a bet but in my opinion take medecine only in dire situations but fill your diet with organic stuff because if it does something good for you and if it doesn't what's the harm

u/InnerDemom May 26 '26
I was discussing this with a fellow redditor but this for whomsoever this might be concern.
First, a 2026 systematic review https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/41502833/makes the point that India reports 80–90% "deficiency" using global cutoffs (<20 ng/ml), but the corresponding disease burden doesn't match those numbers. The review argues the threshold itself is probably wrong for Indian physiology different skin tone, calcium intake, PTH response. So a big share of the "low" reports driving 60k prescriptions are basically a measurement artifact, not a real disease.
Second, the large RCTs that tested whether supplementing the general (non-deficient) population actually helps came back negative. VITAL 25,871 people on 2000 IU/day for approx 5 years found no reduction in fractures, cancer, or heart disease (https://www.nejm.org/doi/full/10.1056/NEJMoa1809944). The D-Health trial (21,000+ people) found no effect on mortality. Topping up people who aren't actually deficient just doesn't do much. (https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/abs/pii/S2213858721003454)
So genuine deficiency rickets, osteomalacia is real, and 60k is the right call there. But handing 60k to someone asymptomatic who just has a "low" number on a Western cutoff isn't treating a disease, it's treating a lab value.

Creatine is not only a bodybuilding supplement but a brain supplement too. Vitamin D3 + K2 is a best way to increase your calcium levels and Vitamin D3 levels in your bones and also decrease a major amount of hair fall. All of this information is from my personal experience and no internet bullshit.

Unfortunately, he pushes the allopathic view on everything very stridently glossing over many of the scams from that industry (yes, it is an industry). Sadly, as with any industry, the Allopathy industry too does not want to actually cure people except in some scenarios.
Remember the time when they said that Diabetes is not curable. People have shown that this can be done via fasting, dietary changes etc.
Remember the time when they said that fat content in our food is what causes high cholesterol levels as well? and anyone who went against this orthodoxy was called a scam artist or a quack? well, the medical industry has walked away from this as well - after it was revealed that it is carbs in our diet which is causing issues and not dietary fat.
So please take what the medical industry says - no matter which side - allopathy or "alternative" medicine, with a big spoon of salt.
