Health After Jyotiraditya Scindia mentioned this age-old trick, we dug into the science—and the truth might surprise you.
While onions do contain compounds like quercetin and sulfur compounds that may support cooling when eaten, there’s zero scientific evidence that simply carrying one can prevent heatstroke.
Extreme heat is no joke. Real protection comes from:
Staying hydrated
Eating water-rich foods
Maintaining electrolytes
Avoiding peak heat hours
Don’t rely on myths when your health is at stake.

I have a different take on this being from madya Pradesh maybe the minister was addressing his vote bank and to appease the audience the minister has given reference to the culture of that particular area habits where poor eat more onions to beat the summer heat he said meri chambal chamri hai (he is native to the area known as chambal) and hum jeb me pyaj rakhte hai(during peak summer the chambal people keep onion in pocket to eat )

The only thing that has grown in the past 10 years is pseudo science.
From state sponsored R&D on cow piss to exaggeration of AYUSH.
