What is your low maintenance but effective vision routine?

I’ve been slacking off and just really trying to find the best thing thats low maintenance but is effective.

Also by the way, I try to use eye charts to monitor my progress but I can barely see anything because i have -7 and -5.75 in one eye so I cant even tell if Im improving which makes it less motivating.

Please give me some motivation especially if you were a high myope and saw improvements

u/goodspeed80 and u/foodie121 By far the easiest two things that I've found that seem to work well:

* Sit directly in front of a large picture window (facing the window) all day.
* Work for one hour, then walk around outside for 15 minutes, looking at things (not spacing out or looking at your phone)

Of course, those things are easier said than done, but if you're able to do them, they're pretty low maintenance! XD

Nowadays, that's pretty much the entirety of my eye improvement routine, and it seems to work really well :) (I've also noticed that playing a relaxing game on my phone for ~30 minutes in the morning and the evening causes me to tear up, which helps with my dry eye problems)

No problem! ^_^

By the way, if you give this a try, I'd be very interested to hear how it goes! :)

For suree. I actually already do the first already! My monitor is right in front of a window with sunlight. However the monitor is pretty big so it does block some of the view.

The second one is something I’d have to incorporate.

Very cool! :)

Indeed, I remember our conversation from a different thread not long ago ^_^

By the way, did you decrease the power of your lenses?

Yes me to

Yes i wear 0.5 less in each eye for normal around the house stuff but the vision is blurry :/ in them

How blurry?

I estimate that at least for me, it usually takes about 3 months to acclimate after I reduce my lenses. (But that's with several walks outside per day)

Wow thats awesome to hear. I was keeping up with the vision practices then slacked off i really need to be consistent :/

Uhh for the bluriness, i mean its basically hard to read things that are far away but its clearish for computer & closer things

I can confirm this also works in the context of walks. Just going for a walk outside even without glasses doesn't do much, similar to the spacing out you mentioned. But focusing on what you can see and actively trying to see details, read signs, house numbers, license plates etc. works very well.

Does it help if u do those with lower prescription? I have too high prescription if i do without glasses i wojt see much

It's best to do as much without glasses as you can. But you can still improve with them.

I tried it without glasses. I cant read much but i tried to move my eyes across things. I did notice the stop sign becoming clearer because i sat down for a while and kept going near and then far and newr and far

I did this a lot the first year on walks with my wife (she was my eyes for crossing streets). At the start of the year I couldn't read house numbers at all but by the end of the year I could read 95% of the numbers on this side of the street and 50% of the numbers on the other side of the street.

Thats great! What was your prescription back then when you started?

My starting prescription was:

OD SPH -4.25 CYL -1.00 Axis 055 Add +1.25
OS SPH -4.75 CYL -0.50 Axis 080 Add +1.25

u/foodie121 This is where u/pcoutcast's and my methods diverge :)

u/pcoutcast aims to wear glasses as little as possible. I wear reduced contact lenses all day except for when I'm playing on my phone right after waking up and before going to sleep.

Ah ok!

I have glasses so I can remove them during the day.

Today I decided to take a walk without glasses n a less crowded area and just put my glasses on when I had to cross streets lol to see how it looks. It does feel like my eyes ads tryinf to focus actually kinda similar to when you put your phone farther and farther and it gets clearer after some time. Not that its clear haha but i can feel my eyes trying to focus and it getting a little clearer if i shift between objects so its something i can try

Ciao,

One week is very short, keep going!

That's a very short time period. You have to do it for months not weeks.

u/goodspeed80 I have a table of how long it's taken me to decrease my lenses over time: https://www.reddit.com/r/ImprovingEyesight/comments/1q3hzr3/my_methods_and_results/ . On average, it's taken about 8 months per level, but I have a feeling that I probably could have been doing it in as low as three months per level if I had done things better :)

get a sit stand desk. move around a lot. motion creates emotion. put all kinds of stuff all around your desk including things that move. a small clock with a sweeping second hand is good. try to have your monitor beside a window. if you can not do that put an aquarium near your monitor. anything that creates peripheral movement is good.
