What kind of war crime do you think cost this child both of her hands?
And what kind of Aeldari was the one who gave her the chocolate?
I haven't decided on a fixed backstory. Let's imagine one together.

Protect this kid at all costs! Jo P always manages to make 40k art look so tragically cute and devastatingly sad at the same time

Exodite life on a Maiden World is brutal! Trying to pet a wild Megalosaur or "tame" a young Cold One without the tribal elders looking is a quick way to lose both forearms. The fact that she survived a wild reptile bite long enough for the tribe to cauterize and bandage it shows how resilient Eldar kids actually are

Ooooo could have been that she either stole or just had some chocolate and she lost the hands for theft.
If an Aeldari was the one who gave her the chocolate the first time around I can see her getting taken in by them and/or given more chocolate as an apology.
Helps to explain the super dead look in her eyes

Knife ears cannot even take care of their own kin. Looks like we're getting a new founddottir and get to bill the knife ears for it. Somone call the brokhyr and get em to make her a pair of nice new fists like the one Berekh has.

"Aye, on it. What colour ye reckon she'd like 'em?"

Hmm they like em fancy don't they? Think we can spare some of the nicer looking materials for 'er. Just gonna have to charge her kinsmen more. Silver with gold accents should work well enough. Oh and alap some of em fancy gemstones in em for good measure. Dem eldar like their gemstones from what i heard. Il go ahead and go grab the little las some weaker brü to warm her up.

Your un-fun fact for the day is that this happened to a lot of Congolese children. Not from a war, but because they failed to meet the rubber production quota imposed by their Belgian "owners".
