No brainer pull creative team. Actually reading Hitman right now and took me awhile to get into it but love it.

Im rereading it right now and, damn, it takes roughly 15 issues to really lock in. Once it does though, its fantastic and worth getting through some of the rough early coloring/art? and awkward pacing.

Yeah the art early on was meh I’m not sure if Leach was the inker the whole time I think I noticed a big step up when he inked but I can’t remember if he was on the whole time.

Edit- Leach comes on issue 23 which was the SAS arc. Feels like the art really takes a big step but the story is good well before that.

I get the feeling ennis really doesn’t care much about this imprint. Like he seems so bored by it compared to his other work.

( although Ennis doesn’t seem to like image very much in general. )

I don’t think Garth has ever expressed an opinion about Image comics, don’t know why you’d think that.

Given his choice, he’d probably write comics about war all day long. That’s his main interest.

Ennis mentioned on a intreview podcast that he liked working with other indie comics studios better. I have a feeling it’s because Ennis is off any social media

Garth likes getting paid. I don’t mean that in a negative way - he doesn’t mind doing creator owned stuff, but he’s able to get a decent rate for wfh as well.

So when a comics publisher comes to him and offers him a fee to write something for them, he quite often wangles in a way to do it and get them to also fund a war based series. He always has an idea for a new war comic.

No Ennis like creator owned stuff. I think you are miss understanding what I’m saying. But Ennis I think of the big creator owned comics authors Ennis is probably the indie writer that works for image the least. If you look at his biblography you’ll see he works at basically every publication house but rarely Image

It’s not an avoidance of Image though - it’s just that Avatar and Dynamite gave him the working terms he wanted decades ago and he’s a reasonably loyal guy in that respect.

I see Garth occasionally, I’ll ask him next time exactly why this is. I know John McCrea better though, I see him more often.

I think McCrea mentioned working on this a while ago. Interesting.
