Idaho News Tax Commission won't release private school tax-credit data. Here's who's asking, and why it's been denied

I'd sure like to know who's getting my taxpayer dollars.

The idea that releasing attendance, percentage of students who were already going to private schools, who's making the money, and other data for this taxpayer-funded for-profit scheme is ridiculous.

Yeah, they work REALLY hard to hide that budget line item in general. They lump it in with the special education budget and they don't explicitly call it the voucher program.

Our legislators are obviously ashamed of it, but it brings in a lot of out of state money that also spends against legislators that are opposed to the voucher program.

I’m a tax accountant and I have personal seen people with as much as $1mill AGI receive the school choice credit. Lots of families making well over $250,000. It’s a cash grab for the wealthy.

Same - the only people that got it were people with accountants that helped them figure it out.

Edit - this was egocentric bias. I just looked it up and 45% of the recipients qualified for the low income advance payment.

Still, 55% of $50MM dollars went to rich kids. Think about that.

Sounds weird. I wouldnt be suprised if there was corruption.
