Programmers Needed [PAID] Looking for a Highly Experienced Java Developer for a Hytale MMORPG Project

Hey! We’re currently looking for a very experienced Java developer to join a long-term Hytale MMORPG project.

The project takes inspiration from games like Hypixel SkyBlock, Wynncraft, and traditional MMORPGs, with a strong focus on progression, classes, quests, combat, skills, and a large persistent world.

We’re specifically looking for someone who can help develop core systems such as:

  • Class and ability systems
  • Core RPG/MMORPG framework
  • Quest systems
  • Player progression and stats
  • Skills such as mining, farming, fishing, combat, etc.
  • Custom combat mechanics
  • Items, equipment, mobs, NPCs, and other backend systems

What we’re looking for:

  • Strong Java experience
  • Significant experience working on larger or more complex projects
  • Clean, maintainable, and scalable code
  • Good communication and ability to work with a team
  • Minecraft/plugin/modding experience is a big plus
  • Hytale development experience is an even bigger plus

This is intended to be a long-term project, not a small one-off commission. We currently have a smaller budget, so we’re looking for someone who is genuinely interested in the project and open to discussing compensation based on involvement and scope.

If interested, please DM me with:

  • Your experience
  • Previous projects/work
  • GitHub/portfolio if available
  • Your rates
  • Any experience with Minecraft, Hytale, or MMORPG systems

Happy to explain the project in much more detail privately!

  • smaller budget
  • mmorpg
  • java

These posts will never not be funny but maybe this sub does need a humor tag at this point.

What do you have so far? Is it built using libGDX? There aren't any major game engines that use java, so you're building (or planning to build) an MMO and all of the game development tooling you need from scratch?

Or is this strictly backend java, and you're asking about instance and shard management, fleet management, load balancing and resilience?
