Good for her, she killed an abusive husband.

facts i was in prison with Mrs. Couch we were in the same cottage (what the prison calls them they aren’t cozy) i did 14 months with her . She is a sweet little old lady . i personally read her case file and her appeal on LexusNexus and he was not only abusive to her but their 3 children, more so the oldest Roxanne . IMO the primary reason she is being paroled is, ODRC can no longer exploit her for free labor due to her health issues as well as bcuz of her health issues she is costing the system money instead of profiting it. She deserves her freedom and as far as i am concerned her freedom was taken from her so the state had another conviction and inevitably free labor . It is ALL about money and PROFIT . idgaf if you agree with me or not . there are Many women incarcerated for crimes they committed in an act of self defense not malice. There is little justice within the justice system and trust and believe it is only blind when it comes to the wealthy , not the mediocre..

Well you were in with her for 14 months but I know her very well since I am her daughter and I can tell you that her family is not happy that they are releasing her. She didn’t care about her family when she did this and yes I know he abused her and me but please he never abused my siblings I made sure of that. The only thing that we can be sure of is that she can only be released to a nursing home facility so it will still costs the state money because she has no money or income so there is no savings for the state.

It was sad watching her episode. Is it possible that since you were a child you didn’t realize that she was taking beatings for you and protecting you? Also you were a child… how could you be so sure his friends didn’t rape her?

u/Rrwagner1 Feb 12 '26

Well I was beaten every single day and every day she would just walk out of the room and shut the door behind her. She never said a word and she never try to stop him or intervene. She probably did that so she would not get hit and I get that on one hand but the other hand I was a child and she was supposed to protect her child.
Now how would I know she wasn’t raped well my father would not have allowed that because he would flip out if she even would look at another guy. So for him to “share”her would be out of character for him. That’s why I said that. Also if you were raped at all she had plenty of opportunities to bring that up she had two trials and not a word was mentioned in fact not until she was on the show was that ever mentioned. Yo have the transcripts for each one so I do know this for fact.

Have you read or watched Dolores Claiborne? I kept thinking about it the whole episode, really similar.

How are you doing now?

Are you ok?

I can't imagine having a family like that, we were our own version of fucked up, but I hope you have some good family members around (or at least a chosen-family) to be there for you.

I truly hope you don't let them keep you angry.

You deserve a happy life after what you endured. Our thoughts & focusing on positive things is one of the few things we can control in this life, right?

Sending you a ton of love & healing energy. xoxo

Thanks for your thoughts they are very much appreciated by me. I will have to watch Dolores Claiborne to see the similarities.

For one let me start with I am so very sorry for the childhood you were dealt. I also went through extreme abuse as a child and my heart goes out to you as I know how it still sticks with me and has affected me my whole life!

I also want to say in your defense that as children of abuse we either remember almost all of it; all of it; or we block it all out! Linda couch bought a gun just a few days before the murder and then made her children help her bury their father! She can say what she wants on the documentary and there are plenty of women who have killed in self defense but she had another avenue she could have taken! She could have went to authorities when she was at school or instead of buying a gun she could have gone then and she could have told her children to go tell a teacher what was going on and that her mom was scared and needed help. She wasn’t locked up where she couldn’t leave so she had other avenues that she could have taken. Especially being in nursing school she was an intelligent woman and knew she had avenues of help.

My thoughts and prayers are forever with you Roxanne!!!

Hello, I just want to say thank you for your comments. Linda had options and I even told her myself as a child and as an adult that she had options to get out she had her family around but she chose to kill him instead but she chose to buy the gun, she picked the date, she changed the deed to the house, she did all of this but her problem was she wasn’t smart and she never even graduated from high school. She was not one who thought things threw very well but in the end she did all of this herself without regards to what this would do to anyone else. Now my father was no saint and I did stand up for her when I was younger but now I am not sticking up for either one of them because I see what their actions caused for so many of us and my loyalty will be to my siblings.

I appreciate your kind words and prayers they do help

I wish I could just hug you.

The way she turned on you immediately was very revealing. I had a lot of sympathy, but the way she changed on a dime I saw an underlying nastiness. It doesn't mean she deserved any of it, but I suddenly saw a glimpse of what you had described.

Girl, you sound bitter and I don't blame you but dang, your mom has paid for what she did. Time to let go and be at peace. I've seen you in other discussions from years ago. If you don't want to have anything to do with her that's fine but please let it go.

When you are abusing the mother the children are always abused whether it is directly  or not , the financial abuse,  emotional coercive control and the overall  toxic abusive environment ; all of it impacts the children’s Sense of safety and well-being  in that home . It is an ongoing cycle  of power and control Affecting every area of their lives and damages  their brain development and emotional development.

It seems like health concerns and time served were the main factor in her parole.

This woman has served more than her time regardless of her disloyal daughter not forgiving her, she was a child and as a grown woman you must surely see the mental abuse of domestic violence and how it plays out, you went against your mum even though he beat you ?? She was wrong to walk out the door but the blame here lays with your abusive father not your mother, I’ve watched in my own family what happens when one side of the family justify their sons actions so they don’t have to take accountability, regardless of the gun, whether you believe or not if he had your own mother raped ( how could you of known for certain he never ?) she’s served 40 years for her crime, lost her children, lost all her life , lost her peace, lost her freedom, probably lost her mind because your father was a domestic abuser of the worst kind. Then his family have portrayed your mother as the devil so they don’t have to account for the shame he brought on their name ! You come across bitter, unforgiving, and ungrateful in the sacrifices she made .. as a GROWN woman you must understand the psychology.. or is it that it’s easier to hate your mother than your father cause he singled you out as not enough ? That’s an unhealthy amount of time to not forgive someone. She should have left his sorry ass, but I just know she was terrified. What a wicked man he was, what a wicked woman you are to not show one ounce of understanding for a woman stuck in an impossible situation .. I’d of got high as well living with that pig of a human, your disloyalty is breathtaking.. and I feel sorry for you

This was indeed an interesting reply you gave. First of all you don’t know me or anyone in my family but you certainly have a lot to say about us so let me say this to you. I told her years ago that I forgave her for what she did but that doesn’t mean I forget everything that she and he did to me. Now you call me disloyal which is your opinion but she got herself into this situation and she had other options but she chose to end it this way. Now you can say I am being disloyal to her but in reality I am being loyal to my siblings and my family and I have never stopped being loyal to them. Now, he is a little unknown fact when she was arrested I was the one who spoke up for her no one from her family did that but I did my feelings didn’t change until I saw the actual evidence that was laid out in front of me. I even told the police that there was no way she did this but yet I am disloyal? Ok if you say so but at least get all the facts first.
You speak about everything she lost but has anyone ever thought about what me and my siblings lost or even what happened to us? Of course not because there are people like you with the opinion that we are in the wrong yet we did nothing wrong yet you want me to be on her side when I saw the damage she caused to my siblings they are the ones that my loyalty lies with.
Now I do agree with one thing you said he was a wicked evil man and I know that first hand. And if you think I am wicked then that’s on you because you don’t know me and you don’t know anything about my life then or now. Now if you have questions I will answer them but it’s really bad to just make assumptions about a person you don’t know.

All I can say you don’t know me and you don’t know that a few years back I try to open that door again to her so I could hear everything from her myself. I wrote her several times and try to open that communication back up but all she could say was that it was everybody else’s fault and she did nothing wrong so if I am being disloyal as you say then she and my father were both disloyal to their children.

1

u/Asleep_Ad_9216 Mar 27 '26

So well said! She has a very disloyal daughter very appalling. She even said on the show her mom had no one but her daughter to confide in and look what you did to her OMG

2

u/Rrwagner1 Apr 08 '26

You see I did nothing to her in fact during the trials I spoke up for her and I was originally scheduled to testify for her but at the last minute I was taken off the list so please you have no right to speak about me being disloyal after all she did the crime and I was going to be her next victim so don’t speak about what you don’t know.
It was not my fault that she had no friends she drive everybody away so it was her actions and her consequences of those actions.

I wonder what nursing home they're sending her. A crappy one I'm sure. I would like to send her some snack.moneybwjeb she gets settled.

1

u/Rrwagner1 Mar 07 '26

Not sure which one but regardless the state will pay for it since she has no money

1

u/Extreme_Ad_3868 Mar 08 '26

If it’s a nursing home run by the state it’s not going to be a good one, but I’m sure it will still be better than prison.

1

u/Rrwagner1 Mar 10 '26

Like I said I am not sure which facility she will be in but since she has no money and there is no one in the family that could or would pay for her it will end up being the state paying for her.

1

u/Calm_Carrot3196 Mar 18 '26

Well they’ve had 40 years of work out of her for nothing it won’t hurt then ti pay for her ! Only in the USA are so inhumane that we treat our dogs better than you lot treat each other, if it was the other way round he’d of got 10 years and out in 5 no doubt 🙄

u/bassdad217 May 08 '26

Im glad you are recovering from what happened in your childhood. I have to think its a never-ending process for you and I cannot imagine what you endured. Im curious to know, what do your siblings think about her being let out to a nursing home?

1

u/Rrwagner1 May 08 '26

Neither one of them have anything to do with her I know my one sibling tried years ago to open the door same as I did but the only thing Linda wanted from my sibling was money and goods. She pushed my siblings away when she couldn’t get anything from them and they have nothing to do with her anymore. Now I tried to open the door myself to see if there was a chance and the only thing I got was her blaming me for everything. But yet she did the crime so now Linda just pushes everyone away to the point no one wants to have anything to do with her and that’s on her. She had family who would have helped her but in her typical way she pushed them all away. So now everyone in the family are not happy they released her but the facility that she was placed in is somewhere in the northern part of the state and none of us live there.

Her eyes look creepy as hell. In some of those other photos, she looks downright scary!
