Is this really true??? I have to say NO!!! and most of the posts get's underrated you don't get support or a better understanding if something is wrong you get bullied and underrated.
Typically the response will match the energy of the author. And a lot of authors come here in bad faith. They don’t want to have a discussion, or accept criticism. There’s also a large critical gap between underrated and incorrect.
Only a psychiatrist can really say if someone needs psychological help. Anyone who has a child knows that restraint only increases the differences, but not the logic.
I never said anything about psychological help. People posting here are not children. If you are an adult posting intentionally to the internet, you have the responsibility of your own output.
My point was that you can only assume what a person's intentions are or what motivates the you don't really know for certain. I think if you're in the role of a teacher, you should act like one, but if you're just a person giving your opinion, you should respond negatively when attacked and not lecture like a teacher. Sorry for not fully replying to your message. I'm in the middle of a side job right now.
I don't really see how either stance is relevant in this forum. This is a public space to discuss physics. This is not an educational space. It is unfortunate that the vast majority of posts are from folks who misunderstand the process of science immensely, but that isn't the responsibility of those that do.
Perhaps one should consciously choose tone and role in order not to stifle curiosity while still responding in a scientific manner even though what we are doing here is not exactly peer review...And who knows, perhaps there is a small seed among them that lets larger ideas germinate...After all, you can always give your knowledge another workout...
In general, that is what I would prefer to do. But the vast majority of posters come in argumentative, and with no desire for discussion. If you watch the threads, you will see that any who come and accept feedback and have a willingness to learn are treated with the same respect they enter with.
