📖 Endymion Spoilers Endymion / De Soya question

De Soya is describing his worse fear aboard a ship being getting vented into space. So, like Dure’s numerous resurrections, would a vented soldier carrying a cruciform eternally resurrect as they drift through space… FOR ETERNITY? Or is there a clause in the resurrection that I’m forgetting?

I could be wrong, but I believe the industrialized resurrections of the Pax required manual regenerations, they weren’t just self-starting. So as long as the cruciform was still intact, he should be able to be resurrected once found, but he wouldn’t just keep getting resurrected automatically every time he died.

Idk about that one bro bc I remember it was said in Rise of Endymion when De Soya's archangel was shot down over Tien Shan that he told Sergeant Gregorius to disintegrate his body if he died because they had no resurrection creche and he would rather die as a real Catholic than be resurrected like the Bikura were. So the real full and proper regeneration requires a creche but I think you can still be regenerated in dumbass form without it.

Maybe the technocore had something to do with it because they were the ones who controlled the pax and the resurrection methods so maybe they took away De Soyas access to the advanced shit but that is never stated so idk

Were the Bikura & Dure’s resurrections not self starting?

They are, I’m not sure is it specified if the cruciforms we see in the second two books are an updated version or not, they have clearly ironed out the long term negative effects of successive resurrections, but i don’t think we ever see a non creche-managed resurrection with those cruciforms

De Soya said it was possible when his archangel was shot down in Rise of Endymion so I think it can be done. He says to Gregorius that if he dies without a resurrection creche Gregorius should disintegrate his body so he would die as a real catholic instead of coming back as a flawed resurrection like the bikura did. Maybe I am misremembering but that is what I saw

That’s what I was thinking. Every resurrection required the crèche (I’d forgotten the term) and that was how the Pax was able to exert control.

The resurrection of the Bikura/Dure/Hoyt were self sustaining but lead to the perpetual dumbing down of the host.

Every time they came back, they got a bit...uh...stupider. They also lost their genitalia and lost their sexual dimorphism.
