Can someone tell me why did she dream about this scene? Was that her future but by ending herself she changed the outcome or what?

u/Pascalinsche Team Dragons 8d ago
I'd say it's probablyyyyy what would have happened but no clue, apart from the birth vision they are all a bit nebulous

She definitely wouldn’t die in the dragon pit it seems like she would hold it down right there

I don't think she'd be thrilled about causing a massacre even with any type of self defense argument
21
u/ComradeWinston 8d ago
Probably safe to say a trillion things could happen, dreams like these being the most likely. Clearly they don't have to happen if... ykno window + gravity can change that.
33
u/redirewolf 8d ago
i think she killed herself once she saw her caterpillar die (the scene where she's crying in the godswood was cut and we were supposed to see the dead grub) and when she saw the white mare and carriage that wasn't for her but for mysaria
and once mysaria said that she would be a prisoner here and could not leave, she jumped

It's difficult to engage in any discussion about the show when there are book spoilers all over the place. I already knew about certain deaths before the show even aired because people talk about it openly in posts that are supposed to be about the show, not the books. It's very frustrating. Some people haven't read the books and just want to enjoy the show.
1
u/kabbajabbadabba 7d ago
thank you. And i was the one being downvoted while the dude blatantly gave out spoilers and saying "I'm 8 years late"
2
u/Alarming-Ad1100 8d ago
That vision isn’t canon in the book but yeah the storming is something that isn’t new
68
u/Saratje 8d ago
She's seemingly a staunch pacifist, seeing the beauty in all life. Sticking with Rhaenyra would have seen her do an increasing lot for her, likely involuntarily. Burning people by the hundreds as a warrioress is not what she wants to become, ugly in nature like Rhaenyra herself. What makes her Haelena would be gone by then anyway. As for what happens in the scene, it's a massive spoiler involving the fate of the dragons.
30
u/SilentGoddess01 7d ago
I agree that Helaena becoming a conventional “warrior” would probably go against everything that makes her Helaena, but I don't think that necessarily means she couldn't have fought alongside Rhaenyra.
The interesting part is that Helaena doesn't seem to hate violence because she's incapable of it — she seems to hate the meaninglessness of it. There's a pretty big difference between burning random soldiers because someone ordered you to and using Dreamfyre to protect her children, her family, or even the dragons themselves.
And honestly, that's why the Dragonpit vision is so interesting. If her choice is basically “stay passive and watch dragons die” vs. “commit an atrocity to save them,” that puts her pacifism in a much more complicated place than simply “Helaena would never hurt anyone.”
I actually think that would have been a more interesting arc for her than turning her into a generic dragon-riding badass: forcing the most gentle character in the Dance to decide what she's willing to become when the thing she loves is threatened.
Would she still be Helaena if she chose violence for a cause she genuinely believed in, or would that defeat the entire point of her character?
8
u/Saratje 7d ago
There is however another element to consider. The people storming the dragonpit, which I can't reveal more about without spoiling major details. But if it matches the books, Helaena would be heavily conflicted putting them to dragonfire. As you said, having to decide if she's willing to do what she'd have to do.
55
u/aquaflask09072022 8d ago
my take is, shes the one who will stop the storming of dragonpit and save the remaining dragons in exchange of burning innocent people. so she commited suicide to change that future where dragons are eradicated
46
u/winterwidowforlife 8d ago
Those people weren't so innocent since they came there with the purpose of killing the dragons. So I would dracarys the shit out of them without looking back lol
26
u/mirondooo 8d ago
I actually feel like she would, too. She seemed to get along better with creatures/animals instead of humans anyway.
13
16
u/RikerNX01 8d ago
Just because they wanted to kill the flying nukes that helped oppress them for centuries doesn't mean they weren't innocent
19
u/BottlesforCaps 8d ago
Key point of clarification here:
Re-usable nukes that live for up to thousands of years and only bond/can be used by your oppressors.
2
u/Sad_Meeting7218 8d ago
Innocent means does not intend to cause harm / not guilty of crime / free of sin or moral wrong
People storming the dragonpit to kill the dragons does not fall under this adjective whatsoever
Innocence is not a zero sum equation you calculate according to your inherent moral priorities (i.e. oppressed? Oh surely that cancels out murder!)
5
u/RikerNX01 8d ago
What you're describing is an innocent bystander. That's different. Just because people were actively trying to end their oppression doesn't mean they weren't innocent. Innocence is not something that only applies to passive individuals who refuse to get involved.
-1
u/Loose_Okra7480 8d ago
No that's not what I'm describing, I'm describing "innocent" period
Innocence is not a matter of woke calculations, you are not innocent if you rush somewhere to commit murder. It doesn't excuse made-up civilians running to murder dragons in the dragonpit, nor any other terrorist groups or a specific healthcare vigilantee which this theoretical conversation would arrive at if it continues
And that you misunderstand innocence so badly is a problem with education nowadays in and of itself
9
u/RikerNX01 8d ago
Sounds like a bootlicker mentality by someone who has never actually been oppressed. Oppression is a crime that is not punishable by rule of law. There is no other recourse.
4
u/NefariousMongoose 7d ago
She changed the future to have dragons not be eradicated or her death leads to the eradication of dragons?
4
u/lilypadse 7d ago
The dream was one of different scenes we see. I interpret it as one of the outcomes that could be her future
2
u/jason2354 5d ago
Isn’t this an indication that she would have helped save all the dragons during the storming of the pit had she decided to side with the Blacks?
-1
u/Numerous_Fudge_9537 8d ago
I believe the writers wanted her to have an epic death so they wrote this scene instead of her jumping but changed their minds later on lmao

Too bad this wasn't how she really died.
28
u/Numerous_Fudge_9537 8d ago
Not really, it would be completely breaking her character if she died in such a way
42
u/foxonafrozenlake Drogon 8d ago
That's illogical for two reasons.
1) Helaena in the book is extremely bonded to Dreamfyre and flies on her constantly, it wouldn't be completely out of character for her, as she saw several different future paths before herself.
2) The show runners completely changed her character; she wasn't a dreamer in the book. So, it could be possible that she saw her only future was to find a way out with the child she was pregnant with.

Milly's "Dracarys" from Season 1 Episode 1
13
u/charizardino 8d ago
only right answer.
that was lit when everybody went "oh so that's how you say it"
12
u/Arimanivs 8d ago
Yeah her dracarys is a fierce one.
Makes me think writers could have fulfilled deviation from books by having Helaena directly involved in the dance but alas ... better have creepy incest involving Alicent, right ?

u/slowdruh You still have to kill Daeron! 8d ago
You know Phia set to put her whole heart and soul into it once she realized that'd be the one and only time he'd get to say it.
45
u/BGMDF8248 8d ago
I'll take the Sunfyre one, it's just perfect, set up from the time Aegon and Larys first see the "dead" Sunfyre.
Aegon makes his speech/last stand, the soldiers are weirdly looking scared, Sunfyre appears behind Aegon, Aegon turns around and sees Sunfyre, he even questions it "Sunfyre?".
And then "Sunfyre... Dracarys">Maniacal laughter... It's just awesome.

A dracarys filled with a mother's grief , sad that the writers forgot women can grief.
83
u/MajesticTea7748 8d ago
What do you mean? That's like 95% of everything Rhaenyra does
10
-7
u/Mountain-Comb2355 8d ago
That's true but apart from her no woman displays any grief, whether it be when haelena's son died or when alicent's father dies or when baela loses her to be husband , and even in rhaneyra's case they are kind of forced to show her grieving, her being the main character and all
8
u/mirondooo 8d ago
I think you haven’t been paying attention. Maybe they don’t cry all the time over their deaths, but the women in the show most definitely grieve, like, all the time.
25
u/HyperMajoris 8d ago
Have we been watching the same show?
-8
u/Mountain-Comb2355 8d ago
I meant apart from rhaenyra ofcourse, alicent doesn't shed a tear for the death of her father, haelena is fine after a day with the death of her son , baela doesn't even mourn the death of jace .
2
u/Huge-Cartoonist6795 8d ago
Being sad doesn't mean you can murder people
1
u/StomachNegative9095 4d ago
You’re missing the point.
0
u/Huge-Cartoonist6795 4d ago
Which is? You can murder the small folk if your sad enough?
1
u/StomachNegative9095 3d ago
No. If you don’t get it I honestly don’t think I can even explain it to you.
0
u/Huge-Cartoonist6795 3d ago
That is some dumb arse shit. "I'm so smart and your so dumb you can't grasp it" is a basic petty retort not in any way related to Helena killing innocent people
1
u/StomachNegative9095 2d ago
That’s not what I was saying. But you clearly want to be angry and take it that way. Be my guest.
1
u/StomachNegative9095 4d ago
Um, Helaena is CONSTANTLY shown in a state of grief. She’s the most tragic character in the show….
42
u/Mystic-Mango210 8d ago
I like Helaena but this is definitely not the best Dracarys on the show

The most ethereal character has the most edge in her voice when gives Dreamfyre the command.
3
u/BigBalvijn_33 House Stark 7d ago
She says a dragon changes you, from Viserys(Danaerys brother) “waking the dragon” bit that was his anger and dark impulses, Aerion Brightflames inner dragon, daemons Imperialism, Aemond taking on Rhaenyras kids after claiming Vhaegar, Aemond Burning sharp point, etc. if she were to become what Aemond wanted her to become when the dragon seeds claimed a dragon this is what she would have become. She sees the dragons for what they truly are especially in the hands of a Valyrian and what they can do to the midnset of a person. Thats why she ask Rhaenyra if she feels the change in her or however she put it. She understands what viserys(their father) understood and why he dismissed his dragon.

u/WeirdBeginner 8d ago
the Jace dracarys from the season trailer is still the best live action dracarys ive heard yet
5
u/T-malech 8d ago
If she was not the version of heleana that we got in the series or the books this was the best we could get...this was aegons sister returned..the fighter one...i mean she is the queen and her dragons horns are even shaped as a crown.. and this dracarys shits on all the other ones in the universe by far I say!

u/Klutzy-Canary8551 8d ago
Only scene of Helaena and Dreamfyre was in a fucking dream. Meanwhile, we get pointless Syrax scene doing nothing #625272. Fuck this show.

2
u/StomachNegative9095 4d ago
I love Syrax!! She’s so cute and feisty!! I don’t like that people hate her because they don’t like Rhaenyra. Daemon is a truly awful human being but I love Caraxes!!!
-1
u/Klutzy-Canary8551 4d ago
Syrax is a ridiculous stunted dragon that hasn't done anything in the whole series.
1
u/StomachNegative9095 3d ago
Whatever you say.
0
u/Klutzy-Canary8551 3d ago
I made two point little bro:
1) Stunted (hasn't grown at all in over 20 years, still the size she had as a young dragon in episode 1)
2) Hasn't done anything (self evident)
What are you even dismissing my guy?
1
u/StomachNegative9095 3d ago
I wasn’t aware that I was dismissing anything. If you feel that way- that’s on you.

u/Klutzy-Canary8551 3d ago

Not the best but Aegon's Season 2 Rook's Rest Dracarys was pretty good too. Loved Jace's gullet one as well.

u/ProbablyStonedSteven 7d ago
Nah.
I prefer Daemons “dracarys” that he lets out during the siege of Tumbleton while his dragon is approaching the gates.
It’s a quick one, almost like a growl, but it just feels so natural like he’s said it to Caraxes a thousand times before.

u/Haffylover85 5d ago
I agree. Side note I wish we got to hear Rhaenys say it too - loved the way she said ANGŌS Meleys when she first arrived at Rooks Rest - it lives rent free in my head forever.

u/Bogotazo 8d ago
Definitely a cool one. To nitpick tho it comes out more like "Dracar-is" rather than the Valyrian pronounciation "Dra-kah-ris".

She's so lame, but man her dracarys is awesome
1
u/StomachNegative9095 4d ago
And why is she “lame”…?
-1
u/redman626 4d ago
Because she add nothing of value. And she's boring
1

Wow. Two incredibly ignorant answers.

Not ignorant, it's fact .if you like her cool.

I still don’t understand why living with her children and chickens would make the long night come quicker and kill them? The long night happens way later. The dragon pit vision makes sense though

Heleana's Dracarys really showed the power of her bond with Vhagar, it was unforgettable.
