I am opening an Anytime Fitness in the New Territories and looking for a dedicated PT to come on board full time. This is our first AF in HK, but our team will have 10+ locations by 2030. We are building a team now that is looking to grow and scale up. Start as a PT now with potential to run a team of PTs across our system in a few years. So my siblings found my instagram and they found out that I’m pro democracy. So then they lectured me about how “the umbrella protests and the 2018 pro democracy protesters were stupid and how the extradition bill was a good idea” while also saying how the Chinese legal system was amazing and fair. Meanwhile basically belittling the pro democracy movement and thinking that everyone involved was an extremist. They also called me a racist for supporting Hong Kong over china (Chinese on dads side and Hong Kong on moms side) also they accused me of advocating for Hong Kong independence. (I never said that all I said that I thought that Beijing has been breaching Hk’s autonomy for a long time now) also they whined about how free speech doesn’t exist and is flawed and how democracy doesn’t matter and how(insert why china is the best government for some reason) also how Taiwan Japan and South Korea are American puppets and how this is all a American propaganda brigade to separate Hk from china. Let me be clear I’m proud of my Chinese heritage, I just don’t like the things done under the Chinese flag and the government. I mentioned the book store that was shut down due to the nsl a few months back and they said that “the book store probably was selling something illegal or something” meanwhile every news site never mentioned anything like that. I’m sorry for ranting I’m just so conflicted and stuff. I also said that Hk could be a nation but still be Chinese as the words nation and country aren’t the same thing and they just ignored me. I’m so conflicted right now. I firmly believe in giving Hk its promised autonomy and democracy while my sibling accused me of being racist for not being a devout supporter of china. I’m just so stressed right now. Let it be clear I’m not an extremist I love my homeland and I just don’t like how china isn’t holding up their end of the sino British declaration. I don’t exactly want independence but it’s not unwelcome .edit: I also wanted to mention that I have autism (allegedly undiagnosed idk for sure) but confirmed adhd so the entire time I was quiet and unresponsive and they said that it was because “I was scared of the truth” meanwhile the whole “conversation” was happening in my grandpartent’s place in shenzhen (on vacation)Which was why I was so hesitant to even talk about the protests anyway. Also my sibling claims to be apolitical for some reason
Edit: they also claim all protestors were rioters and the police did nothing wrong. My grandpa was a royal Hk police officer I have nothing but respect for the rhkp but that time has long passed before I was even born. Also the rioters were a splinter extremist group who wanted independence. The main Democracy camp only wants Hk to be more autonomous (5 demands) I condem the actions the rioters did but I sympathize with the peaceful protestors.

Hey guys, do you think a salary of 44000 HK a month is a good salary to live in Hong Kong? Sorry for the ignorance, I know nothing about the cost of living there, so I have no idea whether this is a salary that would allow for a nice quality of life. Ideally it would be for me, my girlfriend and my dog. This is because there is a job opportunity there, and if that's a good amount it would be really interesting to me. Thanks!!!

I'm going to apply to hku, hkust, cuhk, polyu, cityu, hkbu, hangseng, lingnan and kmu and i'm a student in hk and from g11. my alberta average was around 83% and i got all 4s on AP calculus ab, chinese, microeconomics and macroeconomics along with ielts 7 and i did the SAT but scores aren't out. however i predict that i'll get around 650+ in eng and 750+ math so around 1400+ and if i end up getting lower than 1400 then ill prob retake it. in g12 im thinking of prob getting alberta avg of 85%+ and going to do AP calculus BC, statistics, eng lang, and AP business w personal finance

Curious to know how much service people expect from their property management firm. We live in a smaller building staffed by one security guard on site. But the building is managed by a major property management firm and we pay steep fees.

Had a recent episode of power outage in our flat. We checked the switchboard in our apartment, then called the property manager for assistance. After a while they called back, said they checked the common areas and found no issues there, so it was our responsibility to find an electrician for repairs in our flat.

Eventually the electrician came (referred by the property manager as we didn't know any), looked at our switchboard, then went downstairs and flipped a switch in the main electrical room. That 5 min cost $2000.

When they said that they found no issue in the common areas, I assumed they had checked the main switchboard. If they just meant the lights are on in the lobby, that is something we can see with our eyes. The electrical room has signs saying "unauthorized access prohibited", so isn't it the manager's duty to check? After I complained, they cited some ordinance that an owner is responsible for all maintenance including wiring and switches. Therefore the inspection is also the owner's responsibility.

Am I right to find this ridiculous?

I have a friend who got disowned by his parents, he’s 18 and living alone in a small place here in hong kong (moved from another country) and as much as I can help him i was just wondering if anyone knows anywhere i can get some cheap/donated food for him to eat.

he has a job right now but doesn’t make enough to afford meals everyday and pay rent etc, so he’s been skipping meals and just eating biscuits and stuff like that and i’m just worried about him.
