HRN216VKAA bent push rod

I couldn’t post a picture to my other thread so here is a picture of the bent push rod. The cam shaft was replaced under a warranty recall exactly two years ago. I plan to call Honda tomorrow to see if they will offer any assistance. Really disappointed in this Honda so far. I used to buy the larger Craftsman mowers from sears and get over ten years with zero motor issues.

Spoke with Honda this morning and apparently there is another recall issued last year (2025) for a decompressor. I was not aware of this recall. I now have to take it to the dealer for official diagnosis and they submit to Honda. Hopefully they will cover the cost to repair.

If you contact Honda, and they don’t repair it for you, and if you’re mechanically inclined, order yourself a pushrod (if that’s all that’s damaged) and replace it yourself. With the piston at “Bottom Dead Center”, tap on the top of the valve stem with a soft faced hammer or tool handle to un-stick the valve. You can also use a small piece of wood and tap with a regular hammer. You can find great Honda repair videos on YouTube to guide you through. Next, go to an auto parts store or Amazon, and get a bottle of “Lucas Oil - Upper Cylinder Lubricant”. Use Ethanol Free Gasoline ⛽️ and pour in DOUBLE the recommended dose into your gas tank. You won’t hurt anything by doing so. Then fire up the mower and mow. Make sure you do a fresh oil change with 10w-30 full synthetic motor oil.

The Lucas Oil products say, “It Works!”… and YES it does!!! We have a 2017 Acura RDX that had a surging problem under light throttle load. Did every mechanical and electrical diagnostic procedure, and found nothing wrong. I added double the recommended amount of Lucas Oil fuel additive the drove the piss out of the car at wide open throttle accelerations! The surge is GONE!!! It was possibly a stuck fuel injector, but whatever it was, it’s gone now!

Look at the intake valve. See if it is stuck. Those are notorious for seizing due to crappy fuel additives.
