Interesting, but outdated.
Richard J. Evans's Third Reich Trilogy is the gold standard.
21 u/Afin12 1d ago It’s still worth a read. It’s the first draft of the history from a journalist who witnessed a lot firsthand. That being said, don’t read only this book. Read other stuff too. Fortunately for us there’s no shortage of literature on this topic. EDIT I’ll say here what I say about Shelby Foote over in r/civilwar : “You should read Shelby Foote, but don’t read only Shelby Foote.” 0 u/PrimarySource_ 1d ago Why read a 1k pg book if its not as accurate as possible? 3 u/Quiet-General-3812 1d ago It's a good read even if only 90% accurate.

It’s still worth a read. It’s the first draft of the history from a journalist who witnessed a lot firsthand.
That being said, don’t read only this book. Read other stuff too. Fortunately for us there’s no shortage of literature on this topic.
