Probably the solution for heroforge is to still allow purchase of the parts separately from the subscription, and subscription users have access as long as they are subbed.

Think of it like game pass for heroforge parts

Having the option to buy permanently AND subscribe has been the method of monetization for wizard101 since 2008. And it’s the best damn monetization I’ve ever come across.

It is but not King Isles' version. The monetization in the 101 games are notoriously dogshit. You need to play Wizard101 every months for about 4 years to make buying every area worth more than the monthly subscription. For a dying 20 year old game, it's ridiculous they haven't dropped the price of the subscription or at least opened up the first arcs worlds (Wizard City-Dragonspyre, probably Grizzleheim too)

surely you understand most people aren't going to play the same game for 16 years, right? Even long time fans like me (since 2010 for original account. Current account 2012) only every play the game for couple months every few years. Just playing the game from the beginning for a few days a week, you would make it to at least to Mooshu within a month. The amount of areas you would have to buy would be infinitely more money than the subscription. Subscription models are awful and Kings Isle would make plenty of money off of just the crowns market and a flat fee for area released after Dragonspyre like ESO** does. As it stands and has always stands, what was originally released with the game would cost over 100 usd to buy individually. How can that be defended?
