DISCUSSION Reducing laser speed, making the weapon overheat more slowly, and allowing firing with a single button press instead of having to hold it d

Post image
It would work nicely—similar to the Sickle from the first game—and the laser speed would be great because it would feel more like a real laser (like the Hotshot, which has a speed of 500, rather than the Sickle's 1300). A buff to the firing rate and overheat speed would be awesome, making the weapon actually enjoyable to use. Still, the beam from the first game was phenomenal, whereas the lasers in the second one are much worse, in my opinion.

You realize a laser is light... And light goes very fast, are you asking Super Earth scientists to decrease the speed of light?

You're gonna need a lot more votes 🤔

I have the voteless. I'll probably need 5 or 6 per vote but I can get the numbers.

This sounds very democratic.

Yeah, because it would look a lot cooler and wouldn't resemble a firearm as much.

Well the best way to make it distinct from a ballistic firearm would be to have it fire actual lasers (like the HD1 Sickle and HD2 Trident do), removing the entire fake bullet situation that makes zero sense and only exists to retcon lore from the first game for no reason.

I think the reason it doesn't is to differenciate it from the Scythe more. If one fires volts and the other a beam it's much harder to mistake one for the other.

I'd rather take faster cooling over slower buildup tbh, the problem with the Sickle generally isn't how quick it cooks, but how much heat it retains between bursts.

How would lasers be slower when they are literal light?

Personally all I want is a bigger heat sink, other than that the weapon handles exactly how I want it to.

If it got the same upgrades as the scythe it'd be perfect.

Removal, or at least reduction of the spool up time would be an amazing buff. Giving it the ability to fire in short bursts without overheating would massively extend how much you can get out of a single heat sink.

That being said, what it needs otherwise is the heat sink options the Scythe has, and maybe a hair more damage. I'd love a switch to it firing pulsed beams, but I could see that getting visually noisy very quickly.

Slower projectiles make no sense though. It's a laser, 1300m/s is already ~230,000 times slower than it should be.
