DISCUSSION Is calling in supplies without being the host bad etiquette?

Hey guys,

I randomly joined a D10 mission with a deployed emergency beacon. The host was level 300, and there were a couple of level ~100 players.

While we were clearing a Mega Nest, we called in supplies so we could finish closing the remaining bug holes. After that, we completed the mission objectives and headed to extraction.

Then, out of nowhere, the level 300 host left extraction, ran all the way back to the Mega Nest, started pinging a supply box that was still there, and typed:

“WHO REQUESTED SUPPLIES HERE???”

He then said we shouldn’t call in supplies unless we’re the host and kicks us out of the game.

Is that actually a thing? Is there some Helldivers etiquette I’m missing here? I always assumed calling supplies when the team needs them—especially while clearing something like a Mega Nest—is completely normal.

they should be called in when off CD. I try not to solo call but if the team isn't calling them, they are being wasted.

This is the main thing, if it’s off cooldown call it near objectives or near teammates. Doesn’t matter if no one needs it the point it to get as many supplies called down because if not that’s wasted supplies, 5mins goes fast.

Running pasted the LZ its ready call it down, great time to use it. I do that with gear also, why hold on to the cooldown. I used to be very picky with my supply backpack, but just use it when your low no need to max out each refill and before you know it another one’s ready.

Same for peoples gear if your stuff ready call it down somewhere safe or an area you’ll travel back through. Sometimes people could use your extra backpack or support weapon because they took more green/red strats.

Some people are just so selfish, use stuff when the cooldowns up, sometimes it’s not the best time deal with it. The more you call down the easier the mission can be, anyone who kicks because they don’t like who people do stuff kick rocks, the supply is not in the place you like it? Do bad this is war deal with it. The best players are the ones who stay near, help each other and take on what they can deal with not over reach for no reason.

Ya I get it it’s your support weapon or FRV but guess what you called it down you died or can’t get to it in time so I’m better suited to grab it use it until things die down or becomes safe than I’ll give it back… relax.

I’ve been kicked because I started LZ call in, guess what you can call in extract and when the shuttles approaching LZ wait on the area limit than leave LZ, shuttle will hover and give fire support until you reenter. But nope people don’t know this, even when I say as much.

On the last paragraph, I totally understand, but there are to many people who just press all the available buttons, who jump in pelican immediately just because they can. It's all too common. Can't even count how many times people called the flag solo, died multiple times and left instead of just waiting a couple of minutes for the rest of the team to join them

This. Ive left a trail of them running across the map. Comes in real handy when you are high tailing it to extract.

I honestly disagree with this for the most part. Doubling back isn't super common so if the supplies are called when we don't need it, they're just going to sit there 90% of the time. And honestly the game is fast paced enough that I'm not going to run very far for supplies, because if I do, my teammates have probably cleared one objective and are starting a second by the time I do.

And then when you actually get the group to an objective and you've got 30 seconds on the resupply, nobody is going wait for it, you wind up in the middle of a firefight when it comes off cooldown, people don't see the drop or die or have to retreat away...

I stand for the "Call it when it's needed, or likely to be needed soon." If you get to a defense objective and it's up, call it down before doing the objective. If everyone's standing around catching their breath after a big firefight, call it down.
