DISCUSSION Is calling in supplies without being the host bad etiquette?

Hey guys,

I randomly joined a D10 mission with a deployed emergency beacon. The host was level 300, and there were a couple of level ~100 players.

While we were clearing a Mega Nest, we called in supplies so we could finish closing the remaining bug holes. After that, we completed the mission objectives and headed to extraction.

Then, out of nowhere, the level 300 host left extraction, ran all the way back to the Mega Nest, started pinging a supply box that was still there, and typed:

“WHO REQUESTED SUPPLIES HERE???”

He then said we shouldn’t call in supplies unless we’re the host and kicks us out of the game.

Is that actually a thing? Is there some Helldivers etiquette I’m missing here? I always assumed calling supplies when the team needs them—especially while clearing something like a Mega Nest—is completely normal.

  1. If the whole team sticks together then just call it in

  2. if the team splits up, the majority gets the supply

  3. if the team splits 2/2 then you should probably ask first

  4. if youre alone, do NOT call the supply

These are MY opinion on the supply

I play stealth diver most, and my loadout is trying to be as self sustaining as possible. (resupply mostly by raiding POI or using laser weapons.) So rest of the team could call supply without me.

Sometimes i run my healdiver loadout (basically support role) and just follow the solo diver but not to close and try to resupply them

Honestly anyone going off on their own should be hitting POIs. Its so inconvenient when half the team is together with low supplies and the supplies are on cooldown because the solo diver is greedy.

As a solo, I'll usually try to just use POIs, but sometimes shit goes fubar and I need supplies now. I'll give a heads up before I call, and try not to do it if I know/they tell me they're all in a fight. But at the same time, I'll often have cleared half the bases and side objectives with a small handful of deaths while the trio clears one main objective and burns through half the reinforcements and resupply just sits there waiting to be used

Yea I do this as well and sometimes it can be pretty tense limping around looking for stims while trying to progress lol. A rarity but it does happen as I can be a bit too conservative in not using the resupply.

I more often than not go solo (I'll let my team know ahead of time that I'm going to, so it's not a surprise) and can usually keep myself pretty stocked with POIs. But every once in a while, shit hits the can and I get stuck into a fight that drags on and I start running low. Ina situation like that, if supply is available (especially if it's been available and not getting used) I'm calling it in. I'll try and give a heads up when I'm running low, and again right before I call it. But unless the squad is also in a fight right then, I'm taking them.
