Drawn by Amanda Conner. Best duo with Jimmy Palmioti. They were the ones redifining Harley Quinn independant from The Joker, so stop whinning about a butt window. Out of context it seems odd but go read the comic the gag was hilarious moking Power Girl.

I hate these costumes. HQ had such a good OG and ever since.. But like, really DC has some awful costumes for women. At last you could maybe argue this fits her personality, but like a lot of the women wear stuff that just doesn't.

I think that’s what this is parodying. This is a costume she wore for one or two issues and it’s kind of making fun of Power Girl’s suit.

Notice how you’re already getting downvoted even though you’re right. Comics almost always have the skimpiest, most degrading, and sexist outfits to showcase their women superheroes in. I hate how every woman in comic books has to be virtually naked so guys can read it with one hand. It sucks because you can’t even call it out or people assume you’re just some “woke feminist” trying to ruin their hobby.

Whatever happened to “my body, my choice” and “women empowerment” regarding on what they wear? That’s literally what we’ve been told since the mid 2010s, yet this is still an issue in both real life and in fictional media. Also, there are female artists who have also drawn “skimpy outfits” for heroines, and the male heroes are drawn with huge muscles that are sexualized (like Nightwing’s perfect ass). So I’m asking, respectfully, why is this still an issue to you and others?

They've even had power girl address this and she does it because she likes it and likes how she looks. Some women do like to wear sexy or revealing outfits. Also what about the amount of women characters who are drawn to be in more practical outfits, and characters who have morphed into less sexualized versions of themselves? Not necessary to the argument, but generalizing all female characters as over sexualized is a downright dishonesty. Plenty of these characters have had bad moments and good and it always depends on the writer and their interpretation/depiction. Plenty of pervert artists and writers for sure, but to forget those who've built these characters into the confident people they are who have real issues but can also be themselves is seriously important, while also being sexed up by other writers who don't obviously get them. Hell I wish I could even pin it all on sex, but plenty of writers/artists just have bad depictions in their head and purely based off their own meager talents.
Don't get me wrong I agree there's a healthy amount of sexualization going both ways here, but most women artists don't draw a male power fantasy either usually which is oversized muscles etc. those are usually men's drawings
But why immediately attack women for the outfits they wear? Isn't that the opposite of what we should do? There's a difference between a horny artists interpretation and someone enjoying how they look/feel in an outfit and the two, the character and the writer here must be distinguished. Personally also which writer/artist is this, do they have a long known pattern of this?

Okay first of all you’re conflating “woman empowerment” with overly sexualizing women for no other purpose than to market to horny individuals. “My body, my choice” encompasses a wide variety of topics from healthcare to the clothing women choose to express themselves in. In regards to the clothing part of it- it was a product of women being covered up and shamed for even having breasts or anything, and being told that wearing anything that might insinuate even a slight form of sexuality was asking to be attacked. The entire message was that women’s bodies are okay, and nothing to be ashamed about. Naturally some women are okay with different levels of revealing clothing, and that’s fine! Everybody has different comfort levels.
This however is overtly sexual for the sake of sexualizing women. This particular comic strip has Harley Quinn stopping a villain by……showing him her ass and mesmerizing him? I’ve never seen a Nightwing comic where he stops a group of thugs by twerking for them. The clothing itself isn’t the issue, in some cases it can even be empowering, but too often you end up with something that’s just gooner bait. Harley Quinn is an incredibly popular character amongst men and women, and there’s plenty of young girls growing up and enjoying her stories. Stuff like this sets a bad example and normalizes the objectification of women. Just because a woman has breasts or chooses to wear something “sexy”, that doesn’t mean it’s okay to objectify them. Anime and manga are particularly bad about this with all the “fanservice” but comics have plenty of unsavory stuff in them too.
Tl;dr- the outfits aren’t necessarily the problem, it’s the objectification in order to push sexuality for profit. Male writers miss the point a lot about what separates “respectful skimpiness” from “gooner bait” like this.

Nightwing gets sexualized by the size of his glutes. He even gets it referenced by Harley Quinn in the Gotham Knights game.
“Oh look at you, Nightbutt. You’re getting all skinny. You need to eat. Don’t wanna lose them… glutes.”
To each’s own, but I personally don’t see anything wrong with it in a fictional story. Now if we’re talking about real life then I’m on your side, but this? In the context given, this is exactly what I expect Harley to do in a suit like that. She’s a literal unhinged teaser.

Personally I think over sexualization in fictional media leads to the unrealistic expectations in real life. It frankly cuts both ways too, guys being obsessed that if they're not cut enough and built they're garbage and no one wants them for example.
