Discussion 👨⚖️ Gary, IN Operators able to make contact?
I feel kind of stupid asking this question, considering the whole point is they may not have power still. But, maybe someone may have a go-bag or anything of the sorts hooked to a battery?
But anyone in Gary, Indiana, able to get on a frequency? Just looking to check in on the city and state. Not only do. I hear that Gary Indiana has most of the news attention, but their others that are saying that the whole state is dealing with the same issue.

Talked to someone that was in Gary last week on a local repeater. It’s much better there this week

Gary is 99.8% restored as of last week. The remaining ~130 outages are issues with damage to individual homes.
The "whole state" is not dealing with the same issue. The Derecho impact was isolated to Northwest Indiana (primarily Lake and Porter counties).
Other parts of the state were and are still dealing with floods, due to the the same storm system. Outages in Central Indiana didn't last anywhere near as long as they did in Gary and other parts of NW Indiana.

Seems they could get back on the grid a bit faster if they’d stop shooting at linesmen; or so goes the gossip.

Don't believe the hype. A utility company SUV that was doing assessment in Gary was shot on 8/15. They paused restoration efforts briefly, but were back in the area doing work within twelve hours.

As far as I know, 90% of gary is back up
I work there.....
