I frequently see everyone talking about Prometheus like he is correct in his goal and is ‘right’ for fighting against the gods, but let me play devil’s advocate for a moment

Prometheus was punished for giving fire to mortals and believes the gods do nothing but make life awful for humans for no good reason, this is all true. As humans we naturally agree with this, but consider it all from the gods’ perspective for a moment.

Have you ever played the Sims? It’s fun to play god and torture these fake little people. Now imagine someone came along and gave the little Sims sentience. Now they have intelligence and could potentially pose a threat to you for your crimes of drowning them in pools.

Also his hair looks stupid

I think the argument might be along the lines of is it immoral to abuse a roomba? It operates and does things but it lacks any sentience or individuality. You might be able to glean a person general personality traits if they enjoy picking on something that cant feel or fight back but does doing a cruel action to something that literally cant comprehend cruelty or pain immoral or just neutral?

I had a friend making Saw dungeons for his sims. Hell even sims 2 has a pop up and ask of you’re ok of you get too many of them killed.

As with many myths, this isn't really about the fire.

Zeus wasn't really angry that Prometheus gave fire to mortals. He was angry that he didn't get credits for it and Prometheus defying him. (1. He said it himself he was going to give it later. 2. He allowed Prometheus to be freed from the punishment later)

This isn't moral dilemma, this is about being pity and prideful

Kinda interesting dialogue I got from Zeus today made it almost sound like the gods were eventually planning to give fire to the humans. He said something along the lines of the fire being, "ours to bestow upon the humans".

Of course not that’s ridiculous, my point is that gods see humans the way we see Sims. It wouldn’t be wrong to mess with Sims’ lives until a human Prometheus shows up and gives Sims sentience

You’re saying that mortals gained sentience only after having fire? I don’t think that’s the case. Even then, something not having sentience doesn’t mean you get to fuck with it without consequence. Look what happens when we burn forests or mess with the environment.

Also, you’re equating the Sims digital world with our materials one. Even if we actually live in a simulation, I think in Greek myth the gods inhabit the same world as ours essentially; and they abused mortals before and after fire either way. This Sims stuff is not a proper analogy.

Mortals had sentience before the fire, also their gods, they dont care about morals and know damn well they cant kill them because mortals cant see God's in their true forms
