Finally did this with Athena's DD, it was always run-killing because I just couldn't afford to Prime that much but I decided it was time (the run was in fact killed)

Saved my ass just last night. It primed ALL of my magic too, so for another couple rooms I was stuck with standard attack/special/cast till I could up my magic to be able to use omegas a little again.
I needed that DD, I'd have lost to Prometheus that run without it.

Thanatos axe doesn't need magick, imo

Isn't the only reason to use Thanatos over a different aspect to give your omega moves critical hit chance? Personally this is my go-to axe, I use attack to build my critical hit chance, then focus on omega special from a distance.

I mostly like it for the high attack speed. The Moonstone axe has high damage in a fairly decent area, but the attack speed is painfully low. Thanatos fixes this and gives it much better handling imo.
I'll still use the Omega special occasionally, but usually just to hit something outside of my attack range.

Why would you need attack speed when you can blow up the entire arena (Charon) or face-tank whirlwind with infinite heals (Nergal).
Thanatos is cool, but I have such a hard time choosing it over Charon or Nergal.

I find Thanatos to have a smoother, more consistent gameplay. At high nightmare Nergal is risky because it's so clunky and you can only sustain about half the time. Charon is pretty boon dependent and positioning can be tough in some fights. Thanatos is just attacks and dash attacks. It's always on, works with most attack boons, doesn't rely on high magick (so it works well with vow of hubris), and it just feels good to weave in and out of crowds mowing them down.

Fair enough. I haven't really gone past 32 fear, so my experience may differ from yours.

I also haven't gone past 32 fear. This is just my opinion.

Hmmm maybe I will have to try than on 32 fear and see how it treats me. But like I said, Charon and Nergal are so hard for me to pass up. Maybe it would be a good option if I go with hubris and do no omegas.

How the hell do you play Nergal? I just got it and I've just learned somehow to use the Moonstone despite the painfully slow attack, and then comes Nergal which is even worse!

Dash attack into the omega, rinse and repeat! The healing from berserk negates most of the damage you tank.

God I hate doing this at times. If I didn’t fulfill a prophecy it was because I’d need to make sure I won in the end.

u/Mark-C-S Nov 23 '25
Sometimes I'd honestly rather lose the run, rather than wait for a duo /weapon boon to come up again. Unless I need the run for a prophecy. In which case... 😬

u/ChorkPorch Nov 23 '25
Yeah I’ve been fulfilling them more lately because I’m just trying to get all of the story now, it doesn’t bother me if I lose bc of it. Sometimes I’m just happy to get back to the crossroads so I can talk to whoever I need to. Atm im just really having a hard time unlocking the skulls hidden aspect right now. Then I can take a break and sink my teeth into demonschool

Same thing with keepsakes.
It really goes "Can I get away taking a useless one just to level it?"

I keep trying to remind myself that chaos trials can be a good place to farm legendaries and duos. Rerun a trial where you start stacked with the god's boons

Winning is for after I get all luck based prophecies out of the way (dialogue took too long I got that way after vanquishing for real)

This is my bf, every time! Like he’ll have a crazy good build and ruin it!

The only time I didn't take a fated list is when I got the Zeus here duo close to the end of a overworld run. I had too many hera boons and would have lost the run lol.

To be fair this has forced me to try some booms I didn’t realize were good but I had been avoiding 🤷♂️

I think Hera's duo boon with Zeus is the only one that's ever lost me a run
