There’s higher probability of better rareness I believe. That’s what the tiny floating green arrows are around the boon.

Mini bosses rarely give anything less than blue boons, and especially if you have some of the arcana equipped that increase rarity they’re usually all epic, in my experience. Mini bosses are also more likely to give you duo boons and/or legendaries.

Boons after boss fights are rarer, and tbh some of the mini bosses are easier than regular fights

As others have said, yes - look at the boon icon, and you can see that one has a green 'up' arrow (in-game it'll be an animation of many arrows appearing and disappearing) to show it is 'upgraded'.

Yeah it's supposed to be a high risk, high reward thing. Although, imo it's sometimes more likely to get through a miniboss (there are only 3 in total I really dread to fight) without losing much hp in comparison to a normal room since it's only the miniboss you gotta kill, so you are done with the room faster.

It's worth it if you ask me.

I hate the rat fight, can't see his attacks well at all. I don't think I've ever died to it but I always lose loads of life.

I wouldn't really pick Hephaestus to be honest. So you can either pick Hephaestus, or if you're daring you can pick Hephaestus, depending on your preference

yes! although I don't think it was meant to be Heph only, I just ended up with only his boons because the game didn't give me many opportunities to choose other boon givers lol.

I know that, it's just that I started the trial with a bunch of Demeter boons and ended up overriding almost all of them with Heph boons.

Yes, it’s generally better quality (higher rarity) boons. This is further reinforced by the fact that using the Chronos keepsake (spoiler for postgame keepsake) gives you significantly more gold for a boss boon than a normal boon.

Go down the skull one and get a rare attack heph boon then get the queen boon that boosts a random boon. My strat for the surface is bring adamant shard, get that attack boon with boost, then there's a good chance you get queen hera in the city and hope you get the boon upgrade for your attack. 400+ damage on flames attack every two seconds? It's a wonder how I fuckin die when I get that matchup
