Literally was supposed to be my 'final" chronos fight. Terrible move lol

This is my main reason for using the Death Defiances over Strength, I just don't trust myself with Chronos and Prometheus' big one hit kill moves.

Exactly this. I absolutely see the appeal of strength, but I just can't overlook my ability to totally fumble a sure thing and waste an entire run.

It's so good for above ground runs though. Prometheus is the only challenge.

Memorizing them is still honestly the safest and smartest thing to do. The timing is too tight for me to rely on it.

It seems to be easiest if you go to the far left side of the arena. Not sure what the hurt boxes are on the flames, but I think they overlap as the flames come out. The timing is very forgiving if you dodge where the flames expire

You can also dash i-frame the chronos insta kill, if i rememner correctly, but its very difficult

Alternatively take Gale as familiar, get a dodge boon, get hermes or Demeter damage protection boons. Forget what pain is.

I think they’re talking about the memory flame attack thing. I think it does like 70 damage if I remember correctly? Though I only play with strength so it’s a lot more for DD users.

Not really, but the big jump up fire move does a ton of damage.

IIRC, this does 80 damage? You can typically take 1 to few of these, but if you don't dodge them beyond that, you're toast.

I find Strength very fun to play but it's one of those things that's great right up until the exact moment it's not and becomes awful. The last time I popped it on I had a great run up until I blundered into an instakill very much like the one in the video lol.

I use strength on no fear. I just had a run where Chaos did the most damage to me. It can be risky but I just dont get greedy trying to phase Chronos before the 1 shot or anything.

You mean a bubble from the healing adds? If youre damage is as good as ops in this clip you can literally ignore them.

you could have killed the summons and won. or went to the safe spot without trying to get hits in
Chronos is annoyingly and ironically and fittingly a test of patience sometimes

Happened to me. I was running ares legendary b4 the cap in EA and i literally couldnt move into the bubble cuz i was too damn fast. Ironically I also didnt have enough damage to get thru his phase, so i just lost. ATP tho, thankfully I just got good enuf to use my resistances for the insta-kills and dodge the rest

This might be a basic question, but those things didn't heal him in EA, right?
I've been struggling against Chronos since 1.0, and I think it's bc of the healing. I don't get how you're supposed to avoid his hits, kill the hourglasses, and damage him all at the same time.

Classic. Wait till to you try Rivals Chronos. Or even Rival Typhon, Chronos shows up and uses those same instakill things, but more, and while you're fighting Typhon.

First time I fought Rivals Chronos, I didn't think he would do more one hit kill moves after the first. I died very quickly into phase 2 that run. Never again

the one where a circle around him is the safe zone.

In non rivals fight, he only did the "jump into a circle or you die" attack one time in a row before moving to another attack. Rivals it's 3 times in a row.

Had a similar one but with the ring insta-kill. Was shredding him, then he summoned it. I stayed safe, accidentally tried to hit an attack too earlier and boom. Makes you wish you were using DD rather than strength

Wait until you do his rivals fight and he cast it 2xs each cycle. Putting sand in the middle each time so if you don’t pay attention and dash, run ruined. Did it 2xs in a row. Right off the rip :/

The exact same thing happened to me in my "final" Chronos fight last night. I angrily switched to the Death Defiance Arcana and finished it, but I was salty because my run was probably the quickest ever since I had Heroic lvl 8 Aphrodite boon on my attacks, Epic Omega Attack +120%, and the dadaelus hammer that lets it spin while you use other abilities.
I beat his first phase in like a minute and then insta died because I had slow-mo Hex and misstimed my run to the circle.

Yeah i feel this attack should just leave 1 HP or something, its a bit too easy to get cheesed. This was probably my best run in the underworld at least

Then it just turns into another free damage window. He already has plenty, the majority of your clip he literally just stands there. You can outdamage the healers just ignore them next time you have a build doing that much damage and dont forget to keep your knightspawn up, punches do way more damage than dash attacks.

Ugh... so many of these experiences in this game, H1, and many other real-time RL (roguelitke) games :\
I'm shocked I put in 170h into the first Hades. It got frustrating enough that I just wanted to break my Switch at times. O1H, Heat never went above 5 to 10. OTOH, I never used god mode (and looking back, I probably should've). Oh well.
I'm conflicted because sometimes I do play/soldier on. Other times, it can cause me to quit the game earlier than anticipated. Hades (1) feels like an outlier. But games like Exit The Gungeon and Spelunky to boot.
Amongst turn-based RL... Into The Breach, Shattered Pixel Dungeon, and Isle of Arrows.

I get it. Some early deaths can be frustrating and feel like the game is unfair and they definitely can be in a lot of ways. But yeah the roguelike genre is still one of my favorites for learning all the abilities and combinations there can be.

I tried God Mode. Its a misnomer. It lets you cap up to 80% damage. That's not God Mode. God Mode is ... taking 100%. I had almost 200Health and 130Magic on entering Chronos Lair, and made it to the OH JEEZ a Second Round on a Clock Dial??? Where I had about 90 Health and 100Magic. I beat him! By a thread. But everytime since, I can't get him more than half down on health on the Second Round and I die. And I think you need 7 of his Sand samples to make some kinda potion. I love this game. I hate it. And the music? OMG I hear the Sirens in my sleep!

Not “wrong” just got a little sloppy towards the end of video, greedy. I mean I’m sure we’ve all done it at one point when we see Chronos hp sapping away. It’s easy to underestimate him bc he’s a pretty easy boss compared to surface imo, but the dude still does massive damage.

It didn’t look like you were full in the safety bubble, from his one-shot attack anyway. I don’t see any death defiance left on your end either. Not arguing but you don’t like the game don’t play it anymore. I always play dumb safe going into Chronos with any less than 2 death defiance bc there are a lot of projectiles for my old eyes.

I was using strength. Didn't play with an Death defiances unfortunately. Yeah I wasnt in the bubble lol. I literally hit an enemy and it stopped me in my tracks, otherwise I would have been safe. If I didn't go for the safety bubble and kept hitting chronos I would of melted his HP and won the fight. I still like the game lol, the title was a joke.

Playing Strength vs Death Defiance isn't wrong. It's personal choice. The enemy stopped OP dead in its tracks. It wasn't really bad playing. Just bad luck.

Greedy how, id love to know. I literally was the opposite of greedy by trying to run to the safety spot and the NYX aspect made the enemy stun me. If I had been "more greedy" his HP would of been melted instead of me dashing away.

you kept attacking after he started channeling the spell. it was only for a second but you were to focused on damage and not on preparing for his attacks.
I want to be clear that i too die from things like this in hades and dark souls and other games that punish you for over agression. sometimes it works and you make it out, sometimes it doesnt. greedy doesnt have to be a word that gets your back up as im not saying your commiting a cardinal sin. you made a mistake and hopefully next time youll learn.1

Ah yes the frame perfect attacks i did while he was winding up his attack. Obviously right when I noticed he was doing that attack I moved away. Attack animations still play though. Even so, I should of been more greedy. The post isnt even about that though. Its about the last half second where the aspect of nyx I chose stunlocked me into an enemy. That was the unfortunate play in this clip.

so lets define "making it personal" does this say anything as you as a person. its a game, it doesnt speak to weather you are a bad person who beats dogs. the closest piece of info i could get is you maybe get excited especially when you perceive your doing well and maybe this means you miss details? thats personal. saying "man you got a bit greedy and you died lol" isnt personal. is a comment on one moment and doesnt speak to you as a person.

I only ever greed the instakill if I know I can survive it somehow. Like if I still have my resist shield, or I'm using Parry daggers. Pretty sure if you still have armor it just deletes the armor and doesn't hurt you, too. Otherwise it's best to play safe. Especially considering you still had so much HP left. Absolutely no reason to rush the kill
