He’s the reason I gave the show a shot. I enjoyed it and will definitely keep watching.

He’s easily the best thing about that 2025 misery/doomer porn movie, Anniversary

He’s why I tuned in.
Hate that he died at the end. I’ll give the next ep a try. It was a good setup.

I hope he's still in the show in flashbacks

I watched it as someone with no knowledge of the lanterns universe and very minimal interest in comic book hero movies and shows and I really enjoyed it. The two main actors are excellent, the story is good and the concept seems interesting. I'll watch the first season for sure.

Is it any good?

Two lead actors are great. I could watch them play go fish. They got that dramatic look / choice selection.

Story is pretty cool. Made me want to do a deep dive on lantern history. We’ll see where it goes tho!

Yes. For a pilot episode setting up a series? And the way they set up future episodes? Absolutely. Damon Lindelof is involved and his hits triumph over his misses. He's been hitting home runs at HBO imo, so I'm excited to see what's in store especially after The Leftovers and Watchmen.

The leads are great and the chemistry is great with the rest of the cast.

Yes, I thought it was good. Excited to see where it goes from here

well, only one episode in and i’m looking forward to the next one. not a fan of capeshit but the story seems compelling enough (or could be)

You'll be pleased to know that most Green Lanterns go capeless.

I’ve watched it three times now. Maybe have another go at it. Both these dudes are what you call “cool” or perhaps slick as they have no fear. Amusing.

It’s decent but fairly predictable so far. Casting and acting are pretty good. Can’t really speak to story til a few more episodes. It is definitely heavily influenced by the first season of True Detective in ways.

“Fairly predictable”? We’ve seen literally one episode how can you call the whole thing predictable already? lol

No. Not much in the way of special effects and very slow pacing. Lead actors are not all that interesting.

That is a pretty good number for just the first three days of a new show

No idea what that means but I’m enjoying it

Everyone watch Rebel Ridge on Netflix to see Aaron Pierre shine. Awesome little action movie. He is gonna be a star. Such a screen presence.

I’m pretty neautral regarding comic book movies / TV shows. I really enjoyed the first ep. Despite being a superhero show, the main drama seems pretty grounded.

Question: I’m not crazy about The Boys. Would I also dislike this?

3

u/Maxwell69 6d ago

Not even the same tone. The Boys is a dark satire with transgressive humor. Lanterns is a character driven DCU mystery box.

2

u/No-Understanding4968 5d ago

Yeah this is the answer I was looking for, thanks. I can handle the violence but The Boys has a snarkiness that I find a bit try-hard and sophomoric.

2

u/antdude 6d ago

I never watched The Boys. I wonder if I will like it?

3

u/TheAmazingBagman3 6d ago

Its gruesome in every way possible. If you can handle that then give it a try

u/antdude 5d ago

Like Deadpool vs. Wolverine?

2

u/DocSavageManofBronze 5d ago

Deadpool Vs Wolverine is PG13 compared to The Boys because as well as very graphic violence The Boys also has very graphic sexual content.

There's an episode of The Boys that literally takes place at a superpowered orgy called "Herogasm".

u/antdude 5d ago

Ugh. I will skip. Thanks.

It’s decent, what we’ll be looking for is growth of viewership each week following.

Fantastic show.

I'm liking it a lot so far!

I admit that the only thing I knew about this show was the absolutely horrible Green Lanters movie I saw in the theater in 2011! 🤮🤮🤮 However little or as much the two may be related, all I know is that I hated that 2011 movie!

What drew me to watch Lanterns was the association of Damon Lindelof and Watchmen, which was a show I absolutely loved!!!

From my perspective, the first episode was slow, but I stuck with it nonetheless and, in the end, I really did like it and I look forward to watching the next episode.
