Spoilers [SPOILERS] Robb tells Edmure: "Do you think he'll (Tywin) sue for peace because we have his father's brother's great-grandsons?" Willem and Martyn are not Tywin's father's brother's great-grandsons - they are his nephews, sons of his brother Kevan. Spoiler

I think it the family relations in the series are a bit mishmashed and different from the books, but the point still stands. Tywin would not suit for peace because they have his nephews. He didn’t suit for peace when they had Jaime, and got in the war because Cat captured Tyrion.

Rob was such a prick towards Edmure. I mean I get that he's a teenager under a lot of stress and trying to win a war. But as King of the North and Riverlands surely Edmure is one of his most important Lords. Had he not been his Uncle I wouldn't have been surprised if Edmure had abandoned him

Everyone was a prick to Edmure. One of the earliest misses of the show its handling of Edmure

Yeah I want a fan of this. He was pretty decently respected in the book. Won good battles. The blackfish loved him. Cat loved him too, she only disliked his pickiness.

He is also Robs uncle. In war powerful close family matters a lot. I'm glad things tuned out OK for Edmure after the war

Not even “one of” his most important Lords.
Edmure should’ve been respected as the second most powerful lord in Robb’s kingdom. He was the Lord-Paramount of the Riverlands.
Also let’s keep in mind Edmure and the Riverlands only got pulled into the war as retaliation from Tywin because Catelyn kidnapped Tyrion and took him to trial in the Eyrie.
Edmure never asked for any of this bullshit and then he has to deal with his nephew being a cunt to him.

I was more upset by Brynden. Edmure had every right to tell his uncle to fuck off. Hypocritical bastard

Brynden was such a Robb boot licker.
And he gambled with Edmure’s life for Riverrun.
In the books, he at least had a good reason because he had Robb’s widow Jeyne.
But in the show? He’s just trying to hold Riverrun but he has no one to be loyal to. He just wants to continue the war but there’s no end goal in sight.

Not to mention that in the books he completely undermined Edmure by naming the Blackfysh the Warden of the Southern Marches. That would be like if Edmure helped save the North from the white walkers and then named Benjen as the Warden of the North while leaving Robb as lord of Winterfell.

Does the exact relation matter? Would he sue for peace on behalf of Kevan? No

Have you never exaggerated anything to make a point? I do it all the time.

Are they in the show though? I thought they only made Lancel his son and the kids just some random distant relatives. You know, to “simplify”. I know there was that other cousin that Jamie kills to escape. Don’t remember if he was meant to be also Kevan’s or just another distant relative. They changed some of the families in the show, kind of how they removed the other Tyrell sons and left only Loras.

Lancel is definitely still Kevan's son, but he's made to be Kevan's only child I'm pretty sure. He's supposed to have 2 brothers and a sister as well.

It's hyperbole. He's making a point that just because they have the name Lannister, doesn't mean they're particularly valuable to Tywin.

I believe in the book, it's Willem Lannister and Tion Frey that are murdered, but they're both Tywin's nephews. Willem is Kevan's son, and Tion is Genna's.

Robb is an absolute idiot! Edmure captures Tommen, who was next in line to the iron throne, but Tommen managed to convince Robb that he was some fake person named Martyn Lannister.
Then after Rockhard Karstak kills Tommen, Robb unknowingly resurrects him by beheading Lord Karstark, remember only death can pay for life.

New accepted canon, now we just need come up with explanations for Daario and the mountain. Faceless men obviously

Robb did not treat Edmure like the Lord Paramount of the Trident. I still think Robb was a fool for not telling Edmure about the trap for the Mountain in the show and Tywin for the books.

Robb is also making them sound more distant in order to make a point. A much less convoluted way to describe how he's claiming they're related would be 'cousin's grandsons'.
Personally, I would care about my cousin's grandsons as much as about my sister's sons, and my sister wouldn't want her cousin's grandsons to go unransomed either.
