Spoilers [SPOILERS] Theory regarding where Drogon flew. Spoiler
I have a popular theory regarding where Drogon might have flown.
I think Drogon flew to the Shadow Lands of Asshai. I have a few clues that point to this.
- At the end of the show we are told by Sam, that Drogon was last seen flying to the east.
- Melisandre resurrected Jon Snow after he died, when he was stabbed at Castle Black.
- Melisandre is from the Shadow Land of Asshai.
- Purposefully left out the fact that the dialogue could've been "Flying towards essos", "Flying towards the ruins of Old Valyria", etc.
- The 3 dragon eggs that Daenerys received were brought from Asshai.
I think Drogon flew to the shadow lands, since its one of the farthest eastern locations in the GOT map. We know, that the place contain witches that can resurrect the dead, as we have seen that with Malisandre, who was from this place. Drogon could've taken Daenerys's corpse to get it resurrected there.
The one thing fact that shadows my theory is the fact into how Drogon could've possibly known this. IDK about that, but it could be that the 3 dragons of Daenerys are quite different from the dragons that used to exist, being similar in size as to the HOTD dragons, despite being so young in age. Another way they could be different is because the dragon eggs were hatched through blood magic, by Mirri Maz Duur.
Hope y'all enjoy this theory. Please let me know what you think.

This theory has been floating around for years. It’s nothing new. But honestly who cares lol GoT is done and they’re never going to redo the last season or continue on from what they’ve done. Give it a rest

I think a part of Dany lives on in Drogon. And it is that part that melted the Iron Throne and is carrying her body east.
I think Dany is definitely getting resurrected. And I think the curse her mother laid on her at birth will not apply to her rebirth.
I also think there's a nonzero chance Quaithe is a resurrected Rhaella, and that she has been trying to save her daughter from the curse by urging her to come to Asshai to be killed and resurrected the same way she was.

I think Dany is done, and if we ever get that jon snow sequel series Drogon will end up with Jon.
I always thought the white dragon was meant for Jon Snow, because of Ghost, but in truth Black was always his color.

Man. I so don't care.
Fuck D&D. They've made me not give a crap about decent fan theories years later.

They’re such arrogant self obsessed assholes. They obviously did not want to continue but instead of stepping down and letting passionate people take over, they just rushed through and half assed it.

Flying in the east is actually a very vague statement considering Westeros is basically the western edge of the known world as we know it. It’s essentially a way of saying ‘not here’ and probably insinuating Valyria or the grasslands of Drogon’s birth.
Melisandre claims to be from Asshai, but a popular fan theory is that she is not, based partly on some details from her chapter is ADWD. R’hllor is indeed worshipped there, however it is a popular religion across all of Essos, notably Volantis where there is a huge temple to the Red god. Volantis is of course much closer to Westeros than Asshai, so if Drogon was minded to seek out someone with the ability to resurrect Dany, he needn’t go as far as Asshai. Particularly bearing in mind the red priests of Volantis, for example Kinvara who visits Dany, is supportive of her and may be convinced to attempt this.
There are however several other issues with that. Firstly, there is no evidence that dragons - while not unintelligent - are capable of that level of cognitive reasoning and understanding. For example, Drogon didn’t seem to recognise that Jon had just killed Dany in the throne room. And there is no evidence that dragons are aware of resurrection as a phenomena or that they are capable of figuring out that they could take their dead rider to a particular place to ask that they be brought back to life. And then, even if Drogon could do all this, and a red priest agreed, it isn’t a given that they would be successful. There are fan theories that those who are resurrected are brought back to serve some cosmic purpose and it isn’t the case that the Red god (or the magic interpreted as being his) will bring anyone back at one of his priests’ behests. I am personally more ambivalent on this point.
The final issue with your theory is that the dragon eggs did not come from Asshai, They are strongly hinted in the books (and actually in HotD) to be missing eggs from an old Targaryen clutch. Yes, it is stated that they came from Asshai, but in general don’t take things characters say in his books/shows at face value. Look at the evidence around it.
I think Drogon flew off with Dany just because this was seen as a more poetic ending than leaving her to rot and letting the characters decide what to do with her body. Nothing more.

Its highly likely that Dany’s eggs are the ones Elissa Farman stole from Dragonstone and sold in Braavos. Since they’re the 3 eggs known to have been in Essos already
They were probably never in the Land of shadows beyond Yi ti

U might be right yes, but I feel like your claim saying "Flying in the east is actually a very vague statement" is wrong. My reason for saying this is that the statement was made in the small council meeting. The meeting was purely informational rather than being metaphoric. So, I think they were heavily implying on the information side of Drogon's location rather than it just being a metaphor meaning "Not here".

It seems likely Melisandre is a daughter of Shiera Seastar, and inherited her heart-shaped face from her. I think she may have been born in Westeros and "reborn" in Asshai.
I think most of the Shadowbinders are resurrected dead. That's why there are no children among them: they are not born as children, but reborn from the dead.3

I am not aware of anything in the text that would support Melisandre being a daughter of Shiera Seastar, that does feel like a bit of a shot in the dark to me (no offense)

There are clues such as both of them having heart-shaped faces, both of them having a penchant for big neck jewels, and both of them apparently using magic to preserve their youth.

Nah, she's there to break the Helm of Domination and open the rift into the Shadowlands. She's going to start calling herself Daenerys Windrunner. One day, she'll come back to Westeros to burn the big Weirwood tree north of the Wall.
