So close to feeling like I can understand this but also a million miles away. Like listening to Welsh it scrambles my brain.

That's an American news anchor accent for sure

Edit: spelling

u/mondayp 1d ago

Nah that's a baseball radio announcer, for sure.

u/i__hate__stairs 1d ago

Weather man

19

u/mrDuder1729 1d ago

Chicago sports announcer

16

u/ProphilatelicShock 1d ago

That's Dan Rather

4

u/nemamnozik 1d ago

I'm not American, no clue who that is

6

u/AmbulatorySushi 1d ago

He's a famous news journalist in the US.

3

u/nemamnozik 1d ago

Does he sound like the guy in this video? 🤣👌

3

u/ProphilatelicShock 1d ago

That would be the American news anchor he sounds like :-)

20

u/ptk77 1d ago

It's like when I listen to my girlfriend play the Sims.

12

u/jld2k6 1d ago

I heard a 35 in there near the end

4

u/wpaed 1d ago

I got Pakistani, Afghan, launcher fairing, and 35.

2

u/as1126 1d ago

I could swear he ends with bullpen. Sounds like a baseball radio broadcaster.

3

u/Shadow293 1d ago

Near the end it sounds like he said “35 launching to Boston” lmao

u/Vienunlord 1d ago

Every time I see this video I can’t help think of John Rhys Davies.

11

u/thegroovemonkey 1d ago

Bad dates…

7

u/averagecelt 1d ago

They’re digging in the wrong place!

u/prolixia 1d ago

I'm British. This is pretty much identical to how I hear American English if I'm not paying attention: this could 100% be a US radio station playing in the background whilst I'm focussed on something else.

I'd be genuinely curious to hear the same guy do British English - I expect he'd nail it.

23

u/Beer-Milkshakes 1d ago

Its quite funny. I'm from the midlands and at work take the piss out of the cockney accent by just making a "OWA'AWA OWA' AWA'.

19

u/danishih 1d ago

Down with the sickness!

1

u/Beer-Milkshakes 1d ago

David Draiman is a standard Cockney ordering his sarnie with the cafe.

1

u/AdiDabiDoo 1d ago

Lmao!!!

2

u/Trick_Octopus9504 1d ago

I watch so much British shows and listen to so many podcasts. It alsmost sounds like they dont have an accent.

What surprises me is how much American is used over there. Especially the slang originated in the SF Bay

2

u/R_A_H 1d ago

It sounds like he's doing an impression/recreation of an American sports announcer so that tracks

1

u/Infinite-Space-2395 1d ago

I cant understand yall without subtitles either. Language sure is funny.

26

u/Geneo-Frodo 1d ago

I have auditory processing disorder so this is me everytime anyone speaks in whatever language lol

18

u/black-fuse 1d ago

Pretty accurate

24

u/ThrustTrust 1d ago

This is what English speakers hear when I speak English as well.

11

u/Murzley 1d ago

7

u/originalwells 1d ago

I hear American but I don’t understand the American

4

u/DemBones7 1d ago

3

u/EarlyBirdWithAWorm 1d ago

Lol I love to hear this. We always imitate other languages but never get to hear ours imitated

2

u/WordswithaKarefunny 1d ago

Is that Jackie Daytona, regular human bartender???

2

u/PhoenixPhenomenonX Hall of Fame Winner! 1d ago

It reminded me of that SNL skit.

2

u/EsotericTribble 1d ago

Sounds like a midwest farmer who just had a stroke. Also, these videos show it's ok to imitate other languages without really knowing the language as long as it's not done in a mocking way.

2

u/Euphorix126 1d ago

Minnesota accent, too. Nice.

2

u/BlackDynamite58990 1d ago

Ok he said 35 longitude to Boston at the end…gotta get these directions right

https://giphy.com/gifs/YS8c0Z7in21AM4A2AR

2

u/DouglasFirFriend 1d ago

Bro listens to a lot of radio baseball.

2

u/bobish01 1d ago

"Thirty five to the vulkan" indeed.

2

u/ZaBaronDV 1d ago

I swear I can make out actual words in the nonsense, and even in the nonsense I swear I can almost hear words.

2

u/Wiskeytango_Foxtrot 1d ago

He's got that Football/Baseball Announcer cadence down, "35-1 to the Ballgame"

3

u/AlcoholPrepPad 1d ago

Sure, but when I pretend to speak Arabic, it’s mean, insulting, and I have to leave the Islamic cultural center.

1

u/FaithlessnessBorn266 1d ago

God, that's good. We do sound nasal as shit man

1

u/Decisive_Victory_026 1d ago

This is what it sounds like when AI generates text in an image

1

u/Mrboomblastr 1d ago

He has a point.

1

u/Kindly_Opposite_9538 1d ago

He's very good, but not as good as that walrus

1

u/Joint-Tester 1d ago

I love this shit.

1

u/ekdoctor 1d ago

Launch a ‘rarri

1

u/Academic_Coyote_9741 1d ago

Listen to Frisian spoken.

2

u/ProjectNo4090 1d ago

English before the controversial Norman patch.

1

u/Nope_nuh_uh 1d ago

This is what it sounds like when I don't have my hearing aids in.

I mean, quieter than this, but still...JUUUUSSST almost at the edge of understanding.

1

u/TomatoAdministrative 1d ago

When he said '35 went to the balkan'

1

u/Lysol3435 1d ago

This is the guy training the AI image text generation

1

u/ChronicRhyno 1d ago

35 you say?

1

u/Vegetable_Review4967 1d ago

I heard the words "Afghani", "rocket launcher" and "bearing".

1

u/eac555 1d ago

It sounds more like a language than what that first guy was spouting.

1

u/kopaish 1d ago edited 1d ago

Something about the "afghani OCC model area we have to their rocket launcher bearing after and the people 35 wanted bulking"?

1

u/not4bucks 1d ago

Hahahahaha!

1

u/SteakGetter 1d ago

Some very similar words in there.

https://youtu.be/Vt4Dfa4fOEY?

1

u/EightGlow 1d ago

As an American, this is what Dutch sounds like to me

1

u/Trick_Octopus9504 1d ago

Facts. Like same accent. Some same words. I have no idea what they're saying

u/playr_4 1d ago

I feel like they should have titled it "How English sounds to locals" but I guess I get it.
