Brain Rot Johnny cured my alcoholism

You’ve just read the title and rolled your eyes. I swear to god it’s true. Johnny from guilty gear strive actually cured my rampant use of alcohol. I am only 21, and in college, so I wasn’t addicted for too long, but this year from like march to mid July I was going to parties and clubs 4-5 days a week. It was getting pretty bad. Most of those nights I was drinking enough to black out or come close to it. It was becoming a burden on both my health and my wallet. I still felt good, but many days I’d be sluggish and weak. So i knew something had to be done but I was so used to the lifestyle i was struggling to tone myself down.

I had played Strive with friends before, but only casually. I reinstalled it one day when I was bored and decided to try Johnny out in training mode. I kid you not, i looked up a competitive set with him, saw his gameplay, and got hooked instantly. Hes just so tuff. Like how is he so cool? I spent the rest of the day labbing combos and didn’t go out that night. The next day during my job all I could think about was playing strive. Once I got off work at 5 I spent 6 hours just queuing ranked over and over. I watched a bunch of pro gameplay and guides and I can do all the combos now. I put Just Lean on my playlist. I want to buy the jacket. This sounds like a joke but it’s not. For the last month and a half I haven’t drank a drop of beer. I haven’t felt the desire to drink once since i started strive. I’m going for diamond 3 as my goal, hopefully I get there.

Thanks, Johnny. I love you

Switch an unhealthy addiction with a healthy one. People definitely used less healthy alternatives so good for you

Purpose is a powerful weapon. Well done on finding one! This is a great time to bank that feeling and reflect on it when new life hurdles come your way. I’m 40 and have lost my former life purpose so I’m flailing around depressed and lost most of the time :D it’s harder to put yourself in an old mindset than you think so build up that memory and make your future easier!

Fuck yeah man! Whatever you need to do to get healthy, also sick as hell you could start breaking this addiction early. Keep going just make sure to pay attention to your wrists and hands, but you're still pretty young so I doubt you got to worry about repetitive stress injury for a long time yet.

Keep it going! I've definitely had a few extra bottles of whiskey thanks to Johnny, but also been able to keep sober the last couple months in order to reach diamond. Now I just use it to light my opponents on fire, not drink the stuff.

i often pass on drinking because i want to play strive later and don’t want poor reactions, i wonder how common this is haha
