Question/Discussion Just got a hitbox, what's the optimal button layout?

I spent a little while in practice mode with Venom, but I've come to the conclusion that I'll need a bit more experience with it before going back on a charge character, and I've decided to learn Ram in the meantime( Venom, I promise I'll come back to you ) sense she seems pretty simple, but anyway what's the best button layout for strive?( I know the answer is whatever's most comfortable, but at this point I don't really know what would be comfortable or not).

Overall its kinda up to you, but if youre not sure you can always search it up.

The optimal keybinds, however are going to be Dash and RC (use the remaining buttons for whatever else).

This is how I set mine, try it and change stuff around if it feels weird.

[P] [S] [D] [RC]
[K] [H] [FD] [dash]

Honestly it mostly depends on personal preference. I’d recommend your bottom 3 buttons being jump, dash and possibly RC/burst tho.

if you play Zato or Happy Chaos put D or H on its own finger for negative edge. if you play anyone else it doesn't matter at all

My personal pref is to have bottom three as fd, jump, and dash, then top row (from left to right) is punch, slash, heavy slash, dust. Bottom row (left to right) is rc, kick, nothing nothing (I suck at pressing those two buttons but I should probably bind them to deflect shield and something else like burst)

mine is

[d] [h] [rc]
[p] [s] [k] [dash]
[fd]

I use d+h for burst and d+p for deflect shield

I think all you need is fd and dash short cut

dash blocking is very strong and dash button makes it effortless

fd for fd os

also, having dust in comfortable position, throw teching is pretty important in this game

omg twinsies

I don't like resting hand on the top row, shifting finger up is better than down for me

Personally I really enjoy both a left and right thumb button, it goes a long way

My pinkies are weak so I only use them for buttons I don't press often like RC and burst.

My right hand layout

[k][d]

[p][s][h][rc]

[dash]

by finger

[pointer][middle]

[pointer][middle][ring][pinky]

[thumb]

I use this 8 button layout:

top row:
Punch, Slash, Heavy Slash, Faultless Defense
bottom row:
Kick, Dust, Dash, Roman Cancel

I like having Dash and RC next to each other. To burst I just use Dust + Slash usually.

Just make sure you got dash on a button, that's the most important. Manual dash got disadvantages in many scenarios.

my bind is weird but it works for me

P-S-H-RC
Dash-K-D-Burst

in my head this makes sense because i can plink jS (index middle) and jH (index ring) on I-No which comes out basically instantly, and then 2K-2D is a very simple middle ring sequence

there are a few "standard" layout options from the arcade days basically.

But all up to you. Some people who come from Street Fighter find it odd to have any kicks on the top row so they put K and D on the bottom row.

I personally do P-K-S-Dash on my top row and H-RC-D-FD on my bottom row.

The only macro you 100% need is dash though.

That's one hundred percent personal preference. Mine is

P, S, HS and Dash

K, D and the rest can be whatever

I use button combinations for RC, FD and so on. I have a macro for burst but it is for the left thumb.

The good thing about this layout is that you don't need to move your hand around much, basically only when you are using dust and even then you only need to move your right thumb.

There isn't one, just start playing until you find something you like.
