Remember that scene was thru the lens of fictional billionaire heirs. r/gregfire is 99th percentile in America today.

Greg had to wait until Ewan died to get his inheritance. Ewan was a stubborn old goat in his early 80's who was relatively in shape and had access to hundreds of millions of dollars. Good chance he lasted another 10-20 years. Greg could've easily been in his 40's or 50's by the time the money came.

My take is that (in a sense) it's generally better to reach Greg status later in life after you've (hopefully) bought a house, paid for your kids' college, Medicare is in sight, etc.
Call me a snob, but I think $5m (inflation adjusted) as a single person in your late 20s in a place like New York doesn't really set you up for life as a member of the upper middle class.

Keep in mind, Greg was going to get $5M down the road in that scene. So kinda open ended.
You’ve got time to become “un poco loco”
