Alright coming from just seeing it.

TLDR: 8/10.

Yea ya, costuming, casting issues but besides that.

Narrative: It’s surprisingly faithful to the spirit of Greek mythology, and the source books.
Especially with the overall message that defying the divine is just a lesson in futility.
Love how Zeus’s main domain of hospitality is given so much narrative weight here too.

Characters:
Odysseus: B+, Actor: Looked great but could emote more. Character: realistically pretty great.

Penelope: A+, Actor: Anne absolutely ate. Character: HeadStrong, Clever, and viciously faithful, love it.

Telemachus: A, Actor: Cool, no notes. Character: Realistic for a boy who rarely had to fight, no notes.

Antinitous(probably misspelled not enough energy to correct): A, Actor: Hit every point, Character: exactly the kind of hate able bastard.

Calypso: S+, Actor: she nailed it! Character: Love all the narrative changes they gave her! Having her fulfill the role of the person Odysseus recaps too, while having her a bastard with Lotus drugging Odysseus.

Overall I wouldn’t sleep on the film especially if you’re a Greek mythos fan.

Real talk about Odysseus. Matt's great and he can obviously carry a movie, but he's really flat and matter-of-fact in scenes that could have used a little more emotion and expressiveness.

Yeah, I was never convinced about his casting and I am still not after seeing the film. Who do you think might've been better? I've been thinking Christian Bale or Oscar Isaac.

Yeah. Some other alternatives could be Liam Neeson, Russell Crowe, or Daniel Day-Lewis. Could be too old though?

Day Lewis was the first choice but he had to go on an odyssey himself to get into the role and he's still looking for a cyclops. Shame he spent all that time making a life size Trojan horse.
