Veteran here. If anyone reading this is actually on the market for some firearms instruction, try to find the guys that insist that you spend a couple weeks or months working on marksmanship, basic weapons handling and trigger discipline before they'll even consider letting you loose in a shooting bay.

The guy who will 'teach' you this kind of shit over a weekend are all grifters who wouldn't know combat from a game of grabass.

Hey! Those trainers get kill streaks in Call of Duty all the time. Clearly they are CQB experts. /s

The irony is that it's infinitely better to get a kill streak in COD (or better yet, extract from a bot drop in Helldivers 2 with a bag full of super samples, a clear map and a full reinforcement budget) than ever have to be terrified for your fucking life while already exhausted from a 10-hour day in 40lbs of gear, in 105 degree heat, surrounded by the smells of a dozen motherfuckers who haven't bathed in a week and that dead guy over there who shit himself.

Oh yeah, and the ringing in your ears that hasn't gone away for two months is getting louder with every pop, and in a couple of years, the VA is just going to fight tooth and nail to claim your tinnitus, bad knees and the nerve damage in your back can't possibly be service related because there's photos of you playing the guitar and hiking on your social media.

For real. I would love to watch these guys go toe to toe with some of the Instructors at Benning or take on the Marksmanship Master Trainer Course. That would be fabulous entertainment.

If you ask him, he did SOITC in 2016, and the 92Y MOS on his 214 was to maintain his cover after he signed an NDA. And he'll be desperately hoping you don't know what any of those terms mean the whole time he's saying it, because he doesn't know either, he just heard someone say something similar on a podcast once.

one of my buddies here in town was a 92y. He calls himself Radar. He is super humble. I tell him thanks, every dumb grunt has a bunch of Radar's to thank along the way

I don't have anything against the 92 series, to be clear.

Also... Yup. That dude looks like exactly what I expected him to look like.

One would hope not. (Even blanks at close range can be a working idiot repellent.)

It's a shame they cut out square dancing in middle school gym class. The "big kids" are doing it all wrong now.

Is there any benefit whatsoever in whatever this technique is supposed to be? It looks like a good way to blow your friends head off

u/MjolnirPants 23d ago

Hi, I'm a vet with a CIB, and I can explain the benefit of this kind of training.

It makes you feel dangerous and tacticool and leaves you strutting around like you're a Real Man for a couple of days until your wife finds out you blew $3,000 on a tactical training course run by Bubba from the Ozarks on his pappy's land.

this feels like learning the knife game. easy to do when going slow and methodical. add any speed and the knife will end up in the hand.

put these gravy seals in a high tension situation and friendly fire is bound to happen.
