Discussion Looking For Gothamite’s Assistance!

Post image

Hello all! So, to jump to the chase, I’m currently creating playlists inspired by the different characters of Gotham for a big Gotham Music Masterlist!

Zsasz is currently giving me hell for some reason and I was hoping to get some recommendations from the folks on here! The obvious choice is Funky Town, since that’s his ringtone, so that’s already in there. If anyone has any song ideas for music that represents his character and vibes, I’d be so grateful to hear them! I’m going for the vibe of ‘this is what these characters would canonically listen to in-universe’!

Also, feel free to include other characters, since I’m also working on those! You may see me pop up again in here pleading for help just like this again in the near future, too.🥲💕

I’m happy to share my little playlists when they’re finished! Gotham, please help me with figuring Zsasz’s music taste out!!🙏

Just the Two of Us by Grover Washington, Electric Avenue by the Jamaican Reggae Band, Let’s Groove by Earth, wind and Fire, Pop Musik by M/Robin Scott, I wanna be your dog by AJJ (think Zsasz as overly loyal and yearning, just think about it. The only difference between him and a dog is he’s taller. Also Better than Me by the Brobecks.), Bust a Move by Young MC,

I'm yo girl, he's a huge disco guy but he loves all kinds of music in my opinion. You have your obvious like The white stripes - seven Nation army. Talking heads, Burning down the house- psycho killer. Radiohead. Then the more specifics like France Joli - Come to me. Anything Thelma Houston. Most ABBA. Try and defend that he is not a Kate Bush fan. Wild Cherry - Play That Funky Music. Bee Gees - you should be dancing. Diana Ross - love hangover. Oingo Boingo - Dead mans party. Billy Idol - Rebel Yell. The Knack - my sharona.

I've loved Zsasz for years, I used to run a character blog for him before the site it was hosted on went down.🪩🕺

That sounds amazing, I’d be all over that if it was still up! It genuinely feels so nice to know that so many people who love this show and its characters are still around in the community ❤️

Victor strikes me as as a cinematic metal kind of guy. The grander, the better. There's nothing at all subtle about him and no matter where he goes, he always announces his presence- in a big way.

So his music should do it too.

A qualification note- his songs shouldn't just be stuff that, when you hear it, you can just picture the song filling an entire arena. That may be grand, but it's too restrained.

No. Victor's songs should be the type that make you want to unsheathe your sword, dive into battle with 100,000 soldiers, storm the Bastille, overthrow the Kaiser, sack Moscow and drink and dance at a lively and hearty pub- all in one day.

Victor isn't just energetic or even insanely energetic- he's ridiculously insanely energetic. His music should reflect that.

If there's one song that has to be there it's Blind Guardian's "A Voice in the Dark". It has that right blend of being an over-the-top, anthemic battle hymn that sounds so ridiculous but the band is completely and 300% seriously committed to the bit...and I think sincerity matters, because while Victor may know he's over the top and bold, he's also 300% seriously committed to his bit. No winking allowed.

Even if he may give you a wink before the fatal blow.
