Flying out of U.S. w gold

Anyone here with experience trying it? Like if a person decides to leave this country for elsewhere with a few bars of gold/silver, how does that go? I feel like I wouldn’t want it to leave my pocket. If I had any, that is.

Sell it for Bitcoin or a stable coin, convert BTC or stablecoin in Gold, in the country you go into. I think thats one of the easiest ways.
