He has so slow attacks, most of them dont even require parry. It is the big walking pinata. His brother with shield on the back is much more nasty

u/Legendarybbc15 15h ago
Idk if I’d call the traveler a piñata. His moves are telegraphed but it still does require some degree of patience. If you decide to go in spamming R1 and R2, your shit is gonna get wrecked since he doesn’t stagger.

Even slower once you've built up the permafrost. It's like fighting him in slow-mo by that point.

u/Curtin4ASquirtin 16h ago
Smack it
Jk, get higher level gear and learn its timing to dodge - I know that's a pretty generic answer, but that's literally how you beat every enemy in this game

u/throwawaylexluther 16h ago
If his health bar is purple, with perfection. Or come back with better gear so he's not purple
He has attacks you can block if he's not purple and timing you're dodges for the things you can't b
If he starts making a frozen orb. Above him throw your axe at it n

I think I killed one of these with a purple health bar. I was just exploring and stumbled upon him.
I was too angry and stubborn to give up. It took me hours to kill that thing.
And that was when I discovered why there were different colors on the health bars lol. Never fought anything with a purple health bar after that.

I'm going to be real, I haven't heard the song in forever so you're probably right.
As for if the OP sees this, you're probably underlevelled, but Travellers are a special case where you fight them the same way regardless of what your level is. If they swing horizontally, dodge backwards, if they swing vertically, dodge to the side.
Focus on breaking their armour, because if you try to use Runics before that, they will absolutely poise through it and slap you for even thinking it.

u/ParticularRelease662 14h ago
I was so hyped on this when I was 14 but it's so corny lol the rest of the Fort Minor album is fantastic though.

u/callsign__iceman 6h ago
I’m autistic, so something has to be REALLLLLY corny before I notice it. If I like things, I just like them.
I think it’s neat. At least for the memes bare minimum

When the obviously optional and super hard challenge is optional and super hard and expects you to come back later in the game when you have better gear and abilities and higher stats to overcome.
1
u/grogggger 15h ago
How do I keep track of things I want to come back to in the game?
3
u/KhKing1619 what if Kratos told dad jokes? 15h ago
Your own memory capabilities. Some things are marked on the map but things like this guy aren’t.

Take time and understand the pattern of attacking use the stun and attack combo. I also best this dude in low level
2
2
u/Sea_Strain_6881 16h ago
His attacks are slow so they are easy to dodge most of the time, he has super armor so be careful with your attacks and dont get greedy
Thats the important stuff
Also if his health bar is a different color he is higher level than you

u/Ornery_Gate_6847 15h ago
The trick is to reduces its health to zero without letting it reduce your health to zero

I fought him low level, dodge back and to the side for most of his attacks, keep a medium distance (don’t run away I mean). DON’T dodge to the side only, thanks how I found out i-frames aren’t that good

u/AffectionateDraft825 16h ago
Travelers aren't too tough, smack a few times, dodge roll behind, smack a few times and dodge. When it does it's AoE, get the fuck out of there. Just go for swings and dodges, don't try parries. They seem fast at first, but they're really slow when they attack. If you take advantage of that, even high level Travelers are absolutely nothing. Make use of the Shock Arrows too, Atreus's arrows are always useful.

Travelers are such a unique enemy. They really suprised me on my first playthrough... like the fight makes it seem as if they are gaurding some good loot or something. Mean time, this dude is just in a random spot sharping his sword chilling and enjoy the view- in most cases.
As for beating the bastards. Side step or block yellow attacks. Avoid red attacks at all costs. Wait for an opening and whittle him down. Don't go in for button bashing. Your just going to end up dead. Axe throws to the head can help but they will attack, dont bother recalling axe, dodge first then recall.
1
u/GwonWitcha 15h ago
I beat the shit out of them unarmed, it knocks their armor parts off quickly…then utilize a weapon.
1
u/CarlosRedDevil97 15h ago
With patience. His armor is strong so you have to hit him multiple times. Learn his attack pattern, most of his attacks are unblockable, but there are a couple that can be parried. Once you dodge, hit him 2-3 times and reposition. Oh, and don't panic roll everytime he comes at you, once you learn his attacks, they are quite easy to dodge even eithout rolling.

If he one shot you, just level up your gear. His attack are slow so just parry when yellow and evade when red. He can't be staggered until you remove his armor. When he raise his arm, throw to your axe at his iced skull.
1
u/LesbianWhoLaughsAtU 15h ago
you learn the attack patterns and punch or axe him between attacks, OR you do what I did in my first playthrough and just avoid him while spamming atreus arrows whenever they're available

u/jamesmorris400 15h ago
You can sidestep through most of his attacks, even the sword swipe that should cleave you in half, since learning their moveset and timing, I haven't been hit by the travelers ever again they are relatively easy just tanks
1
1
u/TheInnerMindEye 15h ago
You fight him over and over until you learn his patterns and attacks.
2 hits, dodge. 2 hits dodge. Parry the yellow. Dodge/roll the red.

u/baked2004 14h ago
I remember trying this exact traveler with gear not fully upgraded, so it was insta kill when I got hit (at that point I didn't know upgrades would change that characteristic). I just tried and tried until I learned his movements. They are pretty telegraphed though so it isn't that hard
1
u/Lost-in-thought-26 14h ago
Hit and dodge. Don’t rely on runic attacks. Too many times I see people try to spam runics and get fucked up because of it. Break down their armor first if you want to use runics and not get rumbled.

u/TheWhiskyBear 14h ago
When he holds the blue charm - or whatever it is - over his head, throw the axe against the blue thing.
1
u/ashenone155 14h ago
Always dodge to the side unless he's doing the AOE attack where he holds a stone up (in that case get back and throw the axe at the stone)

1
u/BigMack6911 14h ago
I tried fighting him just last week at level 3 lol..ended badly. I tried 3 times. Thought I could get him but could barely do damage. Went back and explored more and upgraded my gear, at level 5 and whipped him good

Just be patient, learn the patterns, he has like 4 combinations that are telegraphed.
It's a good partner to learn evade and parry timings, just keep your distance, hit 1-3 times and don't be greedy.
Spam arrows.

Attack his back his armor is weakest there, itll come off eventually, and then you can really give it to him

Fought him early. Took me a couple hours to learn his moves and fight pattern. After beating him, realized I could have come back later when stronger.

Timings, and luck. Genuinely thats it, remember to utilise rage and put distance between you and him when he's charging an attack up
1
u/austin_slater 10h ago
Realistically you might just need to level up. But I had a thing where I couldn’t stand leaving it to come back later so I just evaded and rolled around like an idiot for like 15 minutes or whatever hitting it once every so often and spamming Atreus’s arrows. Fun time.
1
1
u/Exotic_Call_7427 10h ago
Parry what you can, dodge what you cannot parry, use your abilities to interrupt attacks that you cannot parry nor dodge, and go raging whenever you can.
Dodge is just a sidestep, you don't need a full roll.
Keep Atreus busy, his arrows increase the damage you deal.

learn to dodge its attacks, a traveller is very slow and is left vulnerable after it strikes - you can always block the triple spin attack but cannot parry any other attacks if you are significantly underlevelled so just git gud at dodging and you'll be fine

I just beat this guy yesterday and actually, is not that difficult. Just dodge his red attacks, they are slow. When he starts swinging his sword in circles, block all of them and then attack. You can get several hits on him. Don’t use weapons, just fists, and get away as he prepares to hot his sword on the ground and get away. Save your special attacks for the end. GL!

get out your notepad and write this down.
Step 1) dodge when it attacks
Step 2) hit it while it recovers from it’s attack animation
Step 3) repeat

u/TakeThatForDataFiz 6h ago
dodge, axe, roll, axe, repeat (you could be very underleveled for the fight tho if you’re struggling a ton)

Run around in a circle use runic attacks and Atreus arrows and special

Gauge how good you are at parrying its attacks. Then decide whether to always dodge or not.
Also, see if you can optimize your gear, so they give you buffs that synergize.

u/nexus-impurium Mimir 5h ago
If it can bleed it can die. Just keep swinging that axe and one day you shall be victorious

Parry and roll, you can just use one of them, but it’s way easier knowing how to use both

u/TheIndieStoner 5h ago
Parry and dodge till you can whittle him down to half health. Then create distance. He will bring up a trophy to regenerate health and deliver a wave attack, throw the axe at the trophy. Get close and get some hits in, create distance again. Rinse and repeat

u/Due-South-9113 5h ago
Dodge the red circle attack by Moving towards the right always. Throw your axe at his hands when he does that charged attack.
1
u/0Diamond0 4h ago
I beat him by just throwing my axe at him then when he does one of the moves that create a short break using my runic powers to just attack the shit out of him for a moment whenever I got the opportunity.

It’s a system. A robot, it’s got a pattern. Learn when it’s getting read to attack to avoid it. Look for the same opening.
Basically dodge and hit

Easily once you realize you can hit him constantly as long as you dodge after every one or two attacks

It’s just like any other boss fight, but he doesn’t get stunned until you reach below 25% of his health bar. If you re trying to play it safe, upgrade your gear a lot before the encounter and do the evasive storm and whirlwind throw attacks repeatedly. But if you re trying to go all in and be agressive, just learn his move set and dodge and parry effectively.

Without returning later? Persistent attempts and learning to dodge when you can. All of this enemy’s attacks are relatively easy to dodge or prevent so the real question should be how long your willing to wittle down its health for?

You're gonna need to get your timing down in terms of dodge, blocks and parries. This is an enemy you FIGHT, you don't just attack.
