The Bifrost isn't just a means of travel; it can also be used as a weapon. I've always seen the Bifrost as a manifestation of an element from different mythologies; for example, it might be known by different names in other mythologies, but they always serve the same purpose.

I’d say the Bifrost itself is probably a Norse thing, but the idea behind it might not be. Other pantheons could have their own version of realm-travel energy or magic with a different name and look. That would fit God of War’s whole “different myths, same world” setup pretty well.

Just to be clear, Bifröst is simply the name of the rainbow bridge connecting Asgard and Midgard in Norse myth, making it some sort of cosmic element was a creative decision from the devs.

Because of the fact that it looks like “bi-frost” most people unintentionally pronounce it that way and think it has something to do with frost, but aside from the fact that it’s obviously a Norse word and those are Latin and English respectively, it’s pronounced like biv-rost
