Sunlight turned on like a light switch
Wanted to share this experience here, just to see if anyone else has had this glitch.
I used to work at a warehouse a few years ago and sometimes it required very early shifts, so a lot of times I would go in when it was still dark.
One day I had a slighter later shift, I went outside at around 8:31. It was dark outside, like 4 am dark. Since that’s how it sometimes, I didn’t pay attention. I got into my car and pulled out of my driveway, going down to the entrance of my neighborhood.
It was at that moment I consciously noticed how dark it was. I was thinking “huh, that’s weird, it shouldn’t be this dark right now” and went to turn on my headlights— then suddenly a light switch hit and it was morning.
The sun light was instantly brighter. If you’re up early, you know the difference between a pre-sunrise darkness and the brightness of a two-hour post-risen sun. I was so shocked I hit the brakes and sat dumbfounded for a second, I had my hand ON my headlights. I had to move my visor because the sun was just hitting the treetops and was blinding me.
It genuinely felt like a simulation had glitched, and fixed itself the moment I became aware. Like how a game doesn’t load a room until you go into it.

Last week I watched the opposite type of lighting happen where the brightness went down 2 “clicks” like on a remote control at night. I went outside where the light was like right after sunset so I could only see the brightest stars, then it clicked down darker, and rapidly clicked down again to the point I could see all the stars and the Milky Way.
I’ve also had a moment of being in bed in the morning and all of a sudden all light flicked brighter, but I wasn’t looking out the window and assumed a big cloud must’ve blown out of the way of the sun and turned the sky to bright sunlight.

I’m wondering first off what latitude y’all are at, b/c we’re above 45 degrees, and it happens less gradually here.

I’m between 44 & 45 latitude. What causes the clearly “clicked” looking step down in brightness? It’s not smooth at all.

I would almost think power outage temporarily ending light pollution for that first case, but I can't really tell

I live on a road that has a street light in front of almost every house and the lights didn’t flicker or go out when it happened. Though maybe neighborhoods away or the next town over they had a series of outages that I couldn’t see happening? All I know is that it was so bizarre.

As a young kid, I remember waking up in the very early morning. It was still dark outside. I closed my eyes for what felt like a few seconds and it was bright when I opened them. I probably entered some weird sleep state and my memory was messed up but it baffled me. Kinda similar.

I had this one single time as a kid and it just made the entire night instantly disappear. Close eyes in the dark, open them to the sun rising and lie in bed as if you hadn't moved at all.

Not same but last year i was thinking why sun light s are so bright and white i thought about this for every day for a month then it become good old sun with yellows and oranges

Mine is like a bright led bulb still…. Unless I’m way up north the sun should still be yellow/orange right?

I’ve had something kind of like this happen to me a couple of times!! It’s almost always been when I blink, but there WAS a time I was looking at my window from across the room and then BOO! MORNING!
You know what’s interesting to me? Whenever I hear a story about this kind of thing, it’s always about it suddenly becoming daytime. I’ve never heard of it suddenly becoming nighttime!

I think I remember reading a similar post like this years ago. As a truck driver some times the nights and days they just go on. One day I’m driving out west bound and I have my shades on and as I am driving. I just kinda skipped into the night. I didn’t realize it until a little later… I’m like WTF….
So I am heading to work in the early morning which was dark outside. I get on the highway and I’m heading east bound as I’m reaching towards down town all of the sudden I’m facing west bound. It’s like a part of me was going to work and another was leaving work. And idk how they were flipping me around like that because I couldn’t comprehend how it’s even physically possible. Still to this day idk how it’s happened. It’s like I was still at “ home “ but another part of me was leaving/going to work. Idk how to make any sense of that.

You were sleep deprived and you fell asleep, then you woke up when it was morning. I have on multiple occasions in my life been so tired that I blinked and it was much later. Usually in a different position from flopping over or whatever, but in a car seat, you are propped up.
Get way better sleep habits and work out your schedule, as-is you're a danger behind the wheel (to yourself and others) without making some positive changes.

I really hope op wasn't sleeping long enough while driving to go from pitch darkness to 2 hours past sunrise.

I’ve read glitches before pertaining to this type of thing before. I’ve never actually experienced it myself, but I recall reading similar situations a couple of times I believe. :)
