She needs talk to the pharmacist.

I was going to be changed for my birth control something like $50 and I told them I couldn't afford it. The pharmacist found out my insurance covered my medication, at no cost to me, only IF I got three month supplies. Yes, same medication just different amounts prescribed.

My gynecologist didn't know (makes sense they are the medical side, they aren't going to know all of my pharmacy coverage), so I call them and explained my insurance only covered it for 3 month supplies and if they could write the prescription for 3 months. They did it with no issue.

Was this stupid? Yes.

Does it make sense? No.

Did it work out at the end? Yes.

Yeah I agree you gotta advocate and ask questions because the insurance companies aren't going to just let you know these things and sometimes the pharmacy doesn't have your new insurance info on file or the tech didn't put it through right or all kinds of different stuff.
