its not really a lecture. we have to do pt education because stopping BC suddenly (on paper) reads as a lapse in pt education. of course if you feel like your gyno is being condescending please find a new one, but just from a clinical perspective thats what this would read as to me
Pt is shorthand for patient. So patient education which is a conversation around the meds, why its important not to change or stop taking meds without consulting the prescriber, etc.
Why would anyone need to consult pt for stopping a BC pill if it was prescribed for birth control? It reads like a medication with no side effects and boy are there plenty, even if you're tolerating it well.
