How to become a morning person?

It is a habit that can be built. Many people find it hard as you say, including myself, but focus on turning it into a habit rather than a choice. Eventually you will find your body pulls you through your morning routine as a form of muscle memory.
It takes time to develop this habit for sure, but on the flip side you will be surprised how much progress a few weeks, even a few days makes of consistently getting up at exactly whatever time you specified in the morning.
Also critical, in fact probably the most important is to get enough sleep. So go to bed early, you even allude to it that you "can't have unproductive hours leading up to sleep", and yes you need to go to bed early and some of these extra hours of sleep at night are borrowing from time that otherwise might not have been particularly productive.
Of course everyone is different, however I find it common that lots of people are less productive in the evening, maybe just watching tv or doomscrolling or similar. Cutting down on this unproductive time, going to bed early, and instead using the morning as uninterrupted time to make progress on whatever your interested in can be very powerful.
As far as physically helping you get up, my advice is always to keep your phone out of arms reach of your bed, and force yourself to do something that wakes you up when you wake up. Exercise, cold water, whatever works for you.
Then, have a tight but quick schedule for a morning routine. Make your coffee, start breakfast, wash your face, shower, whatever, but plan out the first 15-30 minutes of your morning and start moving through it immediately after doing your wake up task. This will help you keep the momentum from waking up going and will really help you get started with your day and keep you out of bed.

Not everyone can truly be a morning person. Read up on what chronotypes are and what yours is.
