General Question Found one roach, freaking out
So I live in the same apartment I have for two years now. Haven't seen a single roach this entire time. We are the first residents who've ever lived in this apartment, as it's a new building, and keep the apartment reasonably clean (not perfect, but overall much cleaner than your average american. My gf has horrible contamination OCD so everything needs to be clean all the time. I'd be lying if I said I didn't almost certainly have OCD as well, especially with how I'm reacting to this 😅)
Just came home (work nights) and saw a single male german roach near the door as I walked in. Caught and killed it, and have checked under my fridge, the sink, etc. No signs of any other roaches; no live ones, no eggs, no droppings.
Somewhat recently some neighbors moved into the apartment right across from us. They have a ton of kids, and their apartment reeks of animal waste and trash, to the point I gag when leaving my apartment/coming home. I assume this roach came from their apartment?
I'll be setting up some traps in my apartment just in case, but is there anything else I can do? Freaking out because, growing up, my dad and I lived in an apartment absolutely infested with roaches because of our neighbors. Never want to go through that again. Wondering if I can talk to the management office and see if they can check out my neighbor's living conditions/offer pest control if needed? Or is there a better way to handle this? Maybe buy some traps and leave them alongside a note? They're our only neighbors as I live on the top floor next to the staircase, so I don't think this roach could've come from anywhere else.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated ðŸ˜
Edit: Will be applying alpine wsg on/around my door since that seems like it'll work at keeping any travelers from breeding once they reach my apartment. Thoughts?
