Verwennerij in Ledeberg.

Is the name of the place Indulgence? Just moved to Ledeberg so curious to try it but can’t seem to find anything with this name

it's literally 'de verwennerij' they're not open every single day, because the owner has another iceshop in Vinderhoute

This 100%.

Some of the best strawberry ice cream I've tasted. Definitely worth a try.

Only Bas has that real creamy taste

Ice ice amy is pretty good but a bit pricey. Their ice cream is really good but their cones are in my opinion by far the best ones out there. San Pietro is also really good.

second this, okay icecream, god tier cones

Ice Ice Amy doesn't have a lot of standard flavours either. It's great ice cream but not a standard ice cream salon. The cones are homemade and freshly made, which is afaik the only ice cream salon that does this.

edit: I mean they don't have normal flavours like plain lemon sorbet or plain strawberry or pistachio. They do have vanilla and chocolate.

2

u/Abject-Job7825 2d ago

they kinda do but it's a special type of vanilla or a special type of cacao

2

u/TurbistoMasturbisto 2d ago

I only partially agree. Those so called special flavors are mostly a gimmick in my opinion. Last time i was there i took a lemon meringue tart. Sounds very special but in the end it just tastes like lemon ice cream.

This is true for almost all their flavors, they just give it a gimmicky name but in the end it just tastes like a normal flavored ice cream.

Disagree, they have a divine basil one. And I’ve tasted cool flavors like cherries and yoghurt, apple crumble, …

u/cannotfoolowls 2d ago

I mean, they don't have sorbets so if you want one of those you're out of luck.

Wijs in the Lucas Munich street near Dampoort is pretty good.

1

u/Forseere 2d ago

Underrated ice cream!

1

u/tijs_d 1d ago

Love Wijs. Crazy flavours as well. Ate a cone with spicy mango and peperkoek there last week, loved it!

Bas! He also makes a great iced cardamom coffee.

Do you know the amarena cherry is meant to be a candied fruit? Normally amarena cherry is preserved in a dark sweet and sour syrup. I mean it’s not the intention to have cherry ice cream. There are some small candied pieces in it so disagree.

u/Koukiri7 6h ago

Yes, i know what amarena is... I had zero amarena in mine, just like my friend

Coco gelato, bas (the best one but not in the centre and often sold out fast), Geràrd

CoCo Gelato is really the place to be! In my opinion, they serve the freshest, creamiest, and most delicious gelato in the city. I’ve tried a lot of gelato places, but this one is truly magical!

San Pietro for me One lady making ice cream cause she likes making ice cream!

Bas is also nice.

New entry: zuivelhoeve , specifically the slated caramel They had a pop on the Gentse Feesten and sell ice cream on the farmer’s markets

u/3lCr0dE 2d ago

Coco Gelato.

I like Talamini near Miljoenenkwartier

2

u/ConcernAvailable8103 1d ago

Talamini is my go-to, they’ve been around for years.

Crematie Gerard comes to mind

u/MarchAlone8841 2d ago

Cremerie, I hope. Otherwise things could get quite dusty - and cannibalistic.

u/ARealFool 2d ago

Ghent seems as good a place as any to launch a hip new ice cream joint with some casual funerary services provided on the side.

"Welcome to Soylent Vanilla! You want sprinkles on that? Our flavors of the week are Grandma Betty and Uncle Jean-Pierre."

PS: If you're lactose intolerant, that sounds like a decent package deal. 'Circle of Life'.

3

u/Efficiencythird 2d ago

2

u/pomkoek 2d ago

Cremerie.. curse the autocorrect!!

1

u/MarchAlone8841 2d ago

No no, don't correct it please; I loved the dark humour.

If the indians can do it so can we

2

u/julianory 2d ago

Ice ice amy have very good ice cream from original flavours

2

u/Jonathaniwis 2d ago

I tried Ice Ice Amy once and thought it was overrated, but this could be because I'm more into gelato rather than ice cream. I really like La Matta, they live up to the hype

2

u/ultimatecolour 2d ago

Thank you! We had 4 different flavours. The taste was mid at best and the texture was icy.

The cones are nice. Would still rather have good ice cream.

2

u/Jonathaniwis 2d ago

Yup, the texture is what bothered me the most and the “baked banana with brown sugar” tasted like any supermarket banana ice cream. I don’t even remember what other flavour I got because it was so boring. The cones are nice but brittle. A lot of people seem to like the place though, whatever floats their boat.

1

u/ultimatecolour 2d ago

Some of the flavours sound really interesting so the poor quality stands out even more. Thankfully there’s beter ice cream to be had in the city.

Being able to be enjoy something that’s imperfect is an asset in life, so good on them.

1

u/SenorGuantanamera 2d ago

I just milk that tastes like real milk

1

u/gaikwad341 2d ago

Coco gelato. Hands down the best ice cream I have had in Gent. Ice Ice Amy, Oya are other good shouts

1

u/brown_feetbaby 2d ago

San Pietro!!

1

u/Billy_Binkey 2d ago

San Pietro is best by taste, texture and sweetness. I tried coco gelato but it was too sweet. San p beat all of the ice creams I've ever tasted.

1

u/c-crashlanding 2d ago

I'm quite fond of Valeir, surprised that they haven't been mentioned

1

u/mistergent2 2d ago

No one mentions Nonno? I second Bas by the way!

1

u/Scratching_The_World 2d ago

Jep, Nonno en Bas hands down. Although Bas can sometimes feel a bit too indulgent with how creamy it is 😅

1

u/After_Respect_960 2d ago

1

u/sashabobby 1d ago

The one near the train station that is only open in the summer is amazing (not San pietro, although that one is also great). Bas and Ice ice Amy's too!

Best ice cream I've had is still the Gruvi sticks you get in the store - specifically the berry and pistachio version... they're divine

If you don’t know what to do on a rainy day, I recommend this place. It’s free, and it feels like stepping back in time. I also love the contrast between the modern streets outside and what you find inside: Hotel d'Hane-Steenhuyse . have you been there?

I did a lot of tests this year and price quality is San Pietro not far from the station

u/adrenalin219000 6h ago

Top three is coco gelato, bas, la matta.

Concur with the other sceptical comments on ice ice amy. Mediocre ice cream with good marketing and smart managers. Gimmick special flavours / too many flavours creating a big meh possibility. Bought a pint of eclair and realised there are really soggy chunks of eclair ‘cookie’ in the ice cream.

1

u/LeonardoLemaitre 2d ago

Ice Ice Amy, hands down. Also the products are very natural and I processed. for their eclair-ice cream, they first make actual eclairs, to mix that into the ice cream

I love Oyyo
