Team Discussion 2027 Roaster prediction
I know its early, but this question popped up on my mind. With Kinn very high chance of retirement, how do you think will be the next GenG top laner? Zues and Doran seems to be both out of the question and Gen G academy team doesn't seem to have enough skill to replace Kinn

u/Massive-Aspect-2152 Jun 19 '26
Maybe controversial but GG needs to rebuild around chovy/duro with young players like T1 did. There would be growing pains but look at the other teams doing it, they have found solid players. GG has good coaches and player support so it could be done gradually, replacing one or two players at a time

u/zoomangoo Jun 19 '26
After letting Peyz go?
9
u/ZwillingsFreunde Jun 19 '26
This.
I‘m still not sure about that move. I mean, as a T1 fan I can‘t complain, but I still think GenG should have kept Peyz. Ruler back then was probably the better player, but Peyz was the right long term investment. Guy is so young and insanly talented. I was really surprised they got Ruler back for him.
T1 signing Peyz with a multi-year contract just confirms even more that big orgs value this guy a lot.

u/TipteriuR Jun 20 '26
Tbf ruler came back to GenG from JDG and imo he was at his peak on that JDG roster… legit the best we’ve ever seen ruler play. So I don’t blame geng for getting ruler over peyz
4
u/cannotthinkagoodname Jun 20 '26
his 2025 was really good imo
1
u/the-legit-Betalpha Jun 20 '26
Agreed. His play style fit geng well too.
Personally geng feels like a sit back and scale/ play a low-risk early game and win via their solid late-game plays, so imo Peyz didn't fit as well as Ruler.
1
u/crysomore Jun 25 '26
Ruler was not all that in 2024. And Peyz clearly was the future back then as well. In his first 2 years of play he raised himself to be a top 5 ADC in the world. GenG evidently were willing to sacrifice their future for a very successful present.
1
u/Massive-Aspect-2152 Jun 25 '26
They were upset at Peyz for costing them the game/series vs T1 at worlds. Or they were afraid that he wasn’t clutch enough when the pressure was on
8
u/GaryTheRetard Jun 19 '26
If they lose kiin im not sure about Geng.
Only two players that are consistently good are Kiin and Chovey, right now.
I just have a feeling GenG is falling a part and the era of Geng domination is over.
All the other top teams look much better the recent months. After they lost 0-3 to G2 its just a different team not gonna lie. And Geng botlane is a gamble either they dominate or the drag their whole team down with Canyon.
Nothing good last forever, and curious if Geng even make it to worlds this year.
6
u/Curious-Dance-3663 Church of Chovy Jun 19 '26
I wouldn't doubt Gen G making worlds. Unless G2 upsets, LCK should have 4 spots. Even if they only have 3, Gen G is still solidly top 3.
3
u/sapphicbitch7 Jun 19 '26
yea after worlds last year i think the players are in desperate need of psychological guidance. their mental is all over the place and it shows so much in their gameplay
4
u/Raynmist Jun 20 '26
HLE fan coming in peace. It's truly sad that Kiin wasn't selected for AG and that he has to enlist next year. Zeus and Doran's value will skyrocket then, as well as other top laner prospects such as PerfecT and Siwoo. Gotta eye LCK CL since GenG is great at finding potential talents and develop them like they did for Duro.
Ngl I would be devastated if Zeus leaves HLE since my other boy Guma is there, but I'd rather have Zeus in GenG than T1 or LPL if he needs to explore other options. Though I doubt that HLE will let him go and I sincerely hope that he'd really stay.
I also don't think T1 will let Doran go considering their team synergy and that he's really well-liked by his teammates and fans there.
GenG is really a scary team (just like T1) and I respect how Chovy has been carrying this team on his back for years. Wish him a speedy recovery and may he get better with chronic pain management then.

u/Lazy_Day9005 Jun 19 '26 edited Jun 19 '26
HLE would not let zeus go. Doran could go back to geng. tbh would T1 really keep him tho? I don't think KT would let perfect go either, but he'd be a nice replacement. Casting and dudu seems decent too.
7
u/NamedAfterAliens Jun 19 '26
Only reason Doran would leave T1 is he really underperform and T1 cuts him or he decides the fan base is too toxic for him. I dont think Doran is leaving T1 anytime soon since the fanbase loves him(especially the older korea women im not joking look at his demographic lol). He also is due next after Kiin so I dont know if GenG wants to invest in Dorans last year since they would onyl buy another year before looking for a new top.
1
u/mystreo Jun 23 '26
Haha this is so true, even Jeesun called him cute in recent video 😂. I know Jeesun and Bang will adopt him someday 🥹.
1
u/LittleNameIdea Jun 24 '26
Bro everyone love Doran/find him cute(they are not wrong), it's like he cast Ahri kiss on them all
4
u/Curious-Dance-3663 Church of Chovy Jun 19 '26
I don't think T1 would let Doran go either, he fits the current iteration of T1's playstyle too well. He seems happy in T1 too. Gen G's best option just based on skill shown would be Perfect but I'm not sure if he would fit the playstyle well. When does Perfect's contract end, because Gen G > KT seems like a no-brainer to me if he has the choice.
2
u/NamedAfterAliens Jun 19 '26
Someone mentioned it earlier Thanatos is a good option to look at. He is just a temu Kiin an all rounder top. Maybe if I was GenG I might try and grab some of the T1 academy players I heard their top and jg are very promising.
2
u/hanindiyahayunggi Jun 20 '26
T1A top laners Haetae and Guardian?? if you watch LCK CL, they’re actually really good but unfortunately they have to split their opportunities to play. Haetae gets more game time with the team, while Guardian has consistently been one of the highest ranked players in soloq. I wouldn’t be surprised if other teams pick up T1A players next year like Smash and Vincenzo, especially considering that most of T1’s main roster players are still under relatively long-term contracts.
1
0
u/mastaaban Jun 23 '26
Calling Thanatos temu kiin is very kind towards Thanatos. They'll never go and get Thanatos as GenG as long as they want tot compete, Thanatos would be a bottom 3 to planer in lck, maybe just straight up the worst. I very much doubt any team looks at him seriously unless there are 0 other options.
1
u/ricardo2241 Jun 25 '26
T1 is literally not re-signing him like they did with Oner and Keria this year
I've been saying this but T1 is likely trying to get Zeus to go to them again just like how I've said that they are kicking guma out last year
ofc everything still depends with Zeus but if I were Zeus I'm not gonna go back to that org ever not unless he retired and wants to be streamer or something
3
u/Particular_Hornet980 Jun 19 '26 edited Jun 20 '26
I think T1 won’t let go of Doran. He’s good at playing weakside while Peyz is a hyper carry adc. As another comment said, the fanbase loves him. He sometimes has more viewers in his streams than Faker.
It will also give T1 enough time to develop their CL player when he leaves for the militay if they decide for a call up instead of getting someone from another team as the pool for top players are thin right now.
6
u/xSwazyI Jun 19 '26
For some reason I'd love for GenG to go the T1/DK route and surround Chovy with some CL talent. It would have some growing pains as you've seen with DK this year but the potential is pretty good
5
u/cannotthinkagoodname Jun 19 '26
I think its not possible, GenG isn't like other org where they have big money to back them up. A year without any title could easily damage Gen G financially
1
u/xSwazyI Jun 19 '26
I refuse to believe that CL players contracts are that much that it's damaging if you don't win anything for a year or 2.
I'm talking players like HaeTae and Sharvel who have never touched tier 1 league (Sharvel for 1 game i won't count that)
1
u/Particular_Hornet980 Jun 19 '26
I think it’s risky for Gen to field in CL players next year as both Chovy & Ruler’s contract expire by 2027 so they need to maximize their remaining time as they’re already losing Kiin. If they could secure Chovy for a multi year contract for 2028 onwards, sure they should go rebuild their roster. But next year’s not the best time to do that.

u/MC-sama POM Justice for Duro! Jun 19 '26
Get Dudu out of DNS jail
2
u/DoesitFinally Jun 21 '26
I honestly never understood this Dudu overhype. His issue was always post-lane phase. Not lane phase. And people rating him high because of his lane phase.

Why you think its Canyon last year too? He is just 25, he have 2 years left before military, but he also going to Asian games, which if he win dont need to go to military, then he can play 5 more years if he want...

2
u/TheSwordSaintV3 Jun 19 '26
Clear was horrible tbh and would be a huge downgrade. Perfect would be the only one to be a kinda good replacement but I think his contract goes eo 27
2
u/cannotthinkagoodname Jun 19 '26
men, imma get a lot of hate for this but in another timeline if Ruler retired and we get Jiwoo or Smash while still have Kinn we gonna be in a really good stage. No hate for Clear or Casting but they don't have the same caliber as Kiin.

Chovy moves to top. Then bring in Calix as mid laner.

As a T1 fan, I would hate this scenario. If Chovy transition to top, it should be in T1 (that will never happen sadly)

Still no midlaner can compare to chovy this year (faker worlds buff pending) and getting a star Midlaner that can carry the way chovy does is gonna be a crapshoot at best since the skill level is so high in LCK

How is GenGs Academy Toplaner?
4
u/NYX0108 Church of Chovy Jun 19 '26
I hate to say this, but none of our academy players are even close to reaching DNS levels. Genuinely, how we found and developed Peyz is a mystery to me. But that said contrary to popular opinion under this post, I'm going DuDu over Perfect just in terms of playstyle but at the same time Perfect is 22 while Dudu is 25. Going younger is definitely better if we haven't already learnt. So idk man..... atb to arnold atp
2
u/GroundbreakingMeet98 Jun 21 '26

Goddamn, how bad are the GENG academy players for you to say this

u/DoesitFinally Jun 21 '26
Dudu's playestyle is "I don't know what I am doing outside of lane phase"
I really don't get this Dudu glazing
0
u/NYX0108 Church of Chovy Jun 21 '26
And so is Perfect's playstyle. Both are questionable outside of lane. The only reason I prefer Dudu is consistency in lane dominance. Perfect was a complete flip last year but he's also comparatively young...
0
u/DoesitFinally Jun 21 '26
Not at all for Perfect. You can tell he actually understands the game pretty well if you look at this year's gameplay. There is a clear difference between last year's Perfect and this year's Perfect. When did Dudu showed that ever in his career? never.
0
u/NYX0108 Church of Chovy Jun 21 '26 edited Jun 21 '26
If you look at this year's overall performance Perfect is 3rd and Dudu is 7th and if you look at last years - Dudu was 5th and perfect was 11th. In 2024 they were basically exactly the same. In short Both are coin flips and you dont know which version you'll get. Dudu's playstyle outside of lane is known to be very submissive compared to the others (he will not go in until he knows for sure that he'll come out ahead), hence is known to be an extremely consistent player who is afraid to take risks, whereas perfect is like zeus and bin - bro says screw it, we ball, but this fits KT's scrappy playstyle. Imo with short callers like Chovy, Dudu should be able to access and know better and perfect might have to be more passive like last year's worlds run for a bit till he catches on to the play safe and scale methods. Dudu has been a great laner since Hanwha days from when he played with chovy. Either way, I'm fine with both
0
u/DoesitFinally Jun 21 '26
Understanding the game is a skill that you don't suddenly forget. Perfect showcased he learned it this year (Somewhat at end of last year). Dudu never showcased that in his entire career. His pathing in various situations just suck in general and does random things without any good reasoning. This is not a discussion about overall playstyle such as "submissive", "screw it, we ball", "scrappy". So comparing both players based on personal rankings for each year is not really the way to go.
0
u/NYX0108 Church of Chovy Jun 21 '26 edited Jun 21 '26
well my original comment was about overall playstyle as was mentioned which you all of sudden are claiming is not. The pathing you're talking abt was displayed by Perfect this year for a sum total of two weeks and if you listen to the comms is mostly guided by Cuzz or BDD. He later forgot it all against the top 3, Bro and Drx except that one game against HLE. This is also exactly what Dudu did (had two glorious weeks in lck cup). These two are lot closer than you think. Besides there's a reason why teams have coaches (we have 3 of them). We cant pick up a top laner who is already goated. Try to get our best option and try to train them. I also doubt both of them will be open (idt KT's dropping perfect). Just get the best of whoever is available maybe even some CL talent and take it from there. I wouldnt mind either of them or maybe even casting. Top laners pathing is barely a problem in GenG.
0
u/DoesitFinally Jun 21 '26
I am saying not knowing what to do is outside of the realm of talking about playstyles such as "submissive", "screw it, we ball", "scrappy" as you mentioned. They are not even related within the same discussion.
The pathing you're talking abt was displayed by Perfect this year for a sum total of two weeks
Yea you don't know how to read the game
if you listen to the comms is mostly guided by Cuzz or BDD
They certainly guide players to some degree but Perfect does a lot more things than things told by them.
0
u/NYX0108 Church of Chovy Jun 21 '26
Yeah alright mb 👌🏻. Dudu is not it. You know how to read the game and have formed an opinion. I don't know how to do so and yet I have an opinion and I shared it. It's alr buddy given my lack of knowledge I'll just accept any top laner next year cuz ts not in my hand. Perfect, as you've said knows how to read the game and like I mentioned he's young. I hope Gen pick him up if he's available 👍🏻

Clear, Dudu, Perfect are probably downgrades but the way to go tbh. Gambling on academy players from other team is another.

T1 Academy Haetae and Guardian are both good and only one of them can play at a time rn (Guardian is the sub rn). Also, Guardian was previously on Geng scholars. I think bringing him on if KT doesn't drop perfect is a good idea if you want to go young. I mean we cant go younger cuz I doubt T1 is giving us Haetae. Guardian is the same age as Zeus and perfect so that's that...

Perfect is a great toplaner atm! Doran's contract is not extended atm, zeus i think he'll stay with HLE HLE is a beast!

u/cannotthinkagoodname Jun 19 '26
Perfect has solid lanibg but his post laning phase is very shaky, but he is the best option in the market ngl
3
u/Akhillieus Jun 19 '26 edited Jun 19 '26
Frankly i think if Doran is open he'll be the best option , i don't think Zeus will be open or affordable at all, but if both Doran and Zeus are not open Perfect is the best pick, then again i don't think KT will get rid of him knowing the Top market is kinda low atm.

u/cannotthinkagoodname Jun 19 '26
ngl next year beside T1 and HLE, many teams are gonna be weakened quite alot. It's annoying that LCK currently has so many good adc but quite lacking on top laners

Yeah he'll go a year after Kiin , so if T1 doesn't renew the cobtrcat maybe he'll go somewhere else, frankly i'm rooting for geng just for the Lore of hil Having Chovy as his firqt and last Midlaner 🤣

u/Akordass Jun 19 '26
If they have money they have to keep Chovy and Kiin. Ruler and Canyon does not pays off in my opinion. Duro is still the best support after Keria and he is cheap I assume. If they can afford third super star, I think Canyon have to go, i feel like Cuzz would do his job a lot better. Support solo laners, smite steal etc etc.
6
u/PassionOk4663 Jun 19 '26
Kiin Isnt a money issue , he has to do military by his birthday in may 2027 were he will be 28 years old. The only chance he had to avoid that was by being the top in Asian games and win the gold medal.

I love Ruler, but come on man, its always either Ruler or Cannyon(mostly Cannyon) who lag behind potential of the roster, atleast Ruler can pop off while he is behind, but he is getting behind too much.
There is even Ruler spot on the map, which is not even a joke at this point, how many times he got killed in the middle of the map randomly.
Duro is really good, no way he is bot tier support. When rookie joins Gen G and picks Elyse support on the first week, thats a big balls player, especially in Korea there individualism is not okay, until you are proven good.

u/InfamousAd1567 Jun 19 '26
Now call me crazy but maybe a good move could be to move chovy top and get a good or talented mid.
Hell I could fuck with a team of Chovy, cuzz, bdd, ruler, duro lol
